Fella I know has 5906 for sale. Don't know much about it yet and he's asking $425. Is this a fair price/the going rate or a price I should should jump on immediately?

Here's what I've got so far:
"It comes with 4, 10-rnd mags (Two of them are new, the other two came with the gun when I bought it), factory adjustable sights with the SS guards on the sides, and the manual safety/decocker, and a brand new Galco thumbreak OWB leather holster."

He says its in good shape and I'll be asking for more detail.

Also you might see if you can get a pic or two. Its a lot easier to figure out the price range on a pistol with pics.

Sounds like a deal to me. Does it have the round trigger guard?

Well, if you figure the mags are at least $15 each and the holster is $40, you're paying $380 for the gun. I made a similar deal at $400 and figured I got a good deal as the holster was $50 online. Go for it, you won't be disappointed....'till you realize you now want a 2nd generation 59 and of course an original 59. Think of it as a three gun package deal.

A mere 3 lbs.? Goodness me!

I know right?! My EDC is usually a 5" Government model, at least one extra mag and a C2 Taser. I recently acquired a 659/5906 Interim gun and texted a pic of it to a close buddy who was instrumental in transitioning his agency from S&W Model 66's to Model 659's back in the mid 80's. He responded with "It was a great gun in it's time, but too heavy by today's standard." My response was to liken him to some lady parts, lol.

Yeah, you can get used to the weight. Once you get out of subcompacts and alloy/polymer, holsters get to be pretty important! Good leather, and most of all a good gunbelt and you could CCW. I see too many people buy a nice holster and then use a cheap dress belt to hold it up. I'd say if it's in good shape, get it!

I carry a fat stomach around every day! I am used to that. (not proud of it though) What's a little extra weight of a gun? Bob

Sounds good.......

Later you can get the 15 round mag if you want. I found an S&W mag and snatched it up. I'd buy the gun in a skinny minute if it checks out ok. The only problem is that parts are getting scarce for the 3rd generation guns. I'm going to stock up on the easily broken parts before it gets worse.

$425 for a 5906 is too much. I'm seeing clean police trade-ins for as low as $299...locally and on the internet...all come with 15 round magazines. The 10 round magazine lessens it's value, unless you're in a Communist state where that's all you're allowed to have...

I assume if it comes with that many 10rd mags that it's located in a non-free state and it's not possible to import more.

I picked up a PR 5906 for $249 a few weeks ago, but I'm lucky to live where I'm pretty free to buy what I want.

I got one and let my 33 yr old daughter take it and now would love to find antoher one at such a good price. Saw one this weekend at a gun show and it was priced at $500. Almost bought it for that and it only had the one magazine.
