Hi,
I have been noticing how few model 610's seem to be out there, and how much of a premium they tend to bring, and I was wondering:
If it were possible to get ahold of a 610 barrel & cylinder, would it be possible to swap out the appropriate parts on any N-frame smith, such as a model 28? It would be a bit ***** on a blued 'host' gun, but would it work?

I have done searches and seen that a pinned-barrel frame might have to have a notch machined out of the replacement non-pinned-barrel.

A pistolsmith I called up said that the only issue might be different thread pitches on the breech end of the barrel. Does anyone know if the screw threads are the same on the 610, as the older Smiths? Thank you!

I'd build it on a 625, either a Model 1988 or 1989, which are very easy to find at good prices. You can either keep the original cylinder/barrel, or sell them very easily on line. The frame lug would be the same on both since both are designed for half or full moon clips. It should go together very readily and make a fine piece. Hmmm, I might even build one for myself.

Personally I believe you would have more money into your reworked N frame than it ever would be worth nad for that additional amount of cash you could purchase a 610 even at current prices.

Dead thread revival, I know.

Good info, been thinking about using a doner 625 and swapping a 610 barrel on it and having a 40 SUPER cylinder made.

Sounds like it may work.
