I'll believe it when I see it. Nothing on their website; if shipping in less than a month, you would think there would be some indication of it, but you never know. Did the dealer know what barrel lengths would be produced? I'd love to have a 4".

Yes they said 6" and 3.78" . They said they got one of those advance sheets from one of the distributors. Fluted cylinder. I also drove home and checked the website. My FFL is pretty knowledgeable and has a good amount of Smiths so I expect to see them.

I would think S&W would put it in the M&P line first to try and cut into G20 sales. And considering they probably sell more M&P's than any N-frame revolver.

It does not surprise me that we are coming up on the upteenth reintroduction of the 610. If anything is surprising it might be that it took Ruger chambering three of their revolver frames in 10 mm for S&W to get off their butt.
About the only thing I know about M&P automatics is that I heard a rumor S&W makes them. However, automatics that have never been made for cartridges more powerful than .45 ACP might have to be redesigned for a long life firing 10 mm. In contrast, they only have to pull the 610 tooling out of storage. That might be why revolvers are coming first.

If they did a 610 L frame snubbie like the PC 686 with the fluted barrel (no chubby sleeved barrels) or a 7-shot N frame of the same PC configuration, it'd get my attention.

Traditionally, Distributor Exclusive Offerings do not get posted to the Smith and Wesson website
You never heard of a Lew Horton gun by looking at S&W. Same thing with most of the others

Heck, just tell us the name of the distributor. Once that is known we can all take a look at the distributors web site.

I'd rather an AUTO cartridge be released in an AUTO feeder, but that's just me wishing for a sub compact single stack 10mm so I don't have to carry this G29 anymore

You could always make your own. Several of us on here have "repurposed" single stack 3rd gen Smith .40's for just that purpose.

I don't like chasing rare brass so I would favor a revolver.
But the other day at the range I hit a bonanza - 68 Sig 10 mm cases somebody left on the ground.
If Smith is producing a 10 I would want it in an L-frame. For me, the right size gun for the bang if they can get 6 charge holes in the cylinder.
Honestly, though, I shoot the G29 so well I would be reluctant to shell out a grand for an alternative.

You don't get it, do you?
The draw in a 10mm revolver is:
1) More energy than .357 in same length bbl.
2) Mooners with 10 mike mike are MUCH easier to load in the pistol than the long, skinny .357s.
3) More reliability than ANY bottom feeding bucket of bullets spray and pray plastic fantastic auto loader.
A 10mm revolver, so loaded with mooners and hollow tips, is a premier fightsman's pistol if there ever was one.
Actually it's the second. But I wouldn't be shocked if they do resurrect the 610.
With an MSRP of $969 on both the 4" and 6 1/2" 2019 offerings of the Model 610, I am very anxious to see what the street price will be
Yep, just checked both sites and they're there. When I looked on S&W's site yesterday, I didn't see them, but the 4.125 incher pops up as the first item now. Dang it though...I wish it didn't have the IL.

I'll probably buy one, I've been looking for the right 10mm revolver but I can't decide. Now all I need to decide is barrel length

Fantastic !!! I've been looking at the Ruger 10mm revolvers,that'll stop now. A new 4" S&W 610 to add to my 610 prelock unfluted 6 1/2".
If it's going to be of two piece barrel design, I won't be interested.

Good point. I whished I would have jumped on that bandwagon back when it was first posted about. But, back then I had so much .40 to shoot up I passed on the opportunity and if I remember correctly the TSW's weren't involved in the conversions being double stacks and all.

The 6.5" weighs 50 oz. I'd like a long barrel gun but that's a boat anchor for that cartridge (for me). 4"? A more svelte 43 oz. but that's like a 6" 686 in a cartridge that's kind of the same thing.

I'm glad to see that Smith & Wesson is back in the 10mm revolver game.
As nice as it will be to see them on the shelves again, they just won't compare to my 5" No-Dash.

The Ruger offering is a L frame sized gun. Somehow that's of more interest to me than a N frame. It weighs 37 oz and has a 4" half lug barrel. Uses moon clips, so I assume one can also fire .40 S&W rounds in it. I'd rather have a L frame half lug Smith, but that doesn't seem to be forthcoming.
