I own a 627-5 “Pro Series” and wonder about the PC snub and the PC 5”. Pros and/or cons about them all?
I’m led to believe that the 5” PC is the best balanced ( hopefully will own all 3 at some point ), but I don’t want to be making any disappointing $1,200 purchases!

Indeed.
I scored the Pro brand new for a super low price. Added a TK cylinder release and lock delete. Still unfired, it reminds me of my first Smith - a nickel 4” Model 29-2.
Now to gather owner intel on the PC models.

The snub is a novelty. Too large to conceal easily. Feels great in the hand however. I bought mine on a whim and haven’t been as excited about it since that day. I do like the barrel stamping “.357 Magnum 8X”

I also bought this 5" PC 627-5 off Gunbroker on a whim a few months back.

I gave it a good cleaning and added the LPA rear sight and the Miculek grips.
I shot it one session with some 158 grain JHP 357s and 125 grain RNFP cast 38 Short Colt and it was doing patterns more than groups.
The muzzle had been damaged by a previous owner which I suspect led to such poor accuracy and that may have been the reason he dumped it on GB.

I wanted to see how it shot before I did anything to it.
I re-crowned the muzzle a few days ago and haven't shot it yet.

I suspect there will be a marked improvement in its accuracy now.
I've sold on Gunbroker and bought new but this is my first used purchase, it will probably be my last as well.

The con is it's a S&W, thus it's more than likely to have issues out the box.

I have looked at the 5” model and it does balance nicely. The 5” versions of several S&W’s are very popular yet the company rarely makes them compared to other barrel lengths. Given Smiths track record of late I would want to look at one before purchase but that’s just my opinion and I do like Smith revolvers.

We have that little PC snubby in our shop, but it's the 629 44mag.
I'm thinking about buying it, great little gun, but that trigger stacks worse than my Pythons, is this indicative of this gun?

I disagree. I am 6' and about 220ish. I have carried it on duty and concealed with a moon clip holder. Nothing novelty about it. I would still be carrying it on duty if they would let me. I had 4 moon clips and never felt under gunned. You just need to find the right holster. I do still carry it while hunting, just in case.
