While cleaning a 629-4 today, I was curious about a small part that I have only seen in 629's. This part is never shown on diagrams, and I don't know the name of it.
This part is a small flat piece that rides in a vertical slot milled into the left side of the frame. The pin that secures the hand to the trigger rides in a groove on this part. This part is carried upward with the hand when the trigger moves backward. Does anyone know the name of this part and it's specific function? Smith leaves this part out on the 625, the 610, and perhaps other N-frames. If the gun was not back together, I'd post a pic........but I'm sure someone knows exactly what I am talking about. I suspect this part may have something to do with the "endurance package" engineering upgrade.
