69XX history?

After regretting getting rid of my 6906 years ago, I was lucky enough to pick up a really nice 6946 last night. Since it's been so long since I had mine and been around them I don't recall what changes were made when...trigger guard, trigger color, etc... is there a good ref list for the line? Like to find it's birth date too but my search seems to suggest a call to S&W is the best bet.

Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 3rd edition is a nice reference guide. You can pick them up anywhere online or at your local Barnes and Noble etc.....

Or you can call S&W and give them your Serial # and they can tell you when it was shiped from the factory.

I'll give it a shot Monday...can't hurt to ask! Mine has the round trigger guard but silver trigger and controls....sounds like mid production doesn't it??

Silver trigger/hammer should put it as a pre-94 gun.
