smith made a 940 and 547 ruger also made them in speed six service six and sp101

Yeah, they DID. They should come out with an updated version of the 940. What a great little pistol. But hard to come by since the people that have them don't give them up very easily or cheaply. Also, it would make the moon clips more readily available.

I had a 360J rechambered to 9mm (actually 9x23) and I buy my moonclips direct from S&W, haven't had a problem getting them.

Yeah The M547 & M940 are some of my Favorite S&Ws..
Here's Hopeing that we'll see some more 9mm revolvers from S&W in the future.. Don't Hold your Breath Though!!

NIB condition 547 4" is $950.00 too much?

I have a friend who has a 547 4", I have been thinking of getting, it is in NIB condition and comes with the box. He wants $950.00 for it, do you think this too much? Thanks

Craig, if you can purchase w/o tax, shipping, or an FFL transfer fee: I'd give it some serious thought. I've seen some sell from Gunbroker & Auction Arms ranging from $700 to $1,050. Like I said, if you can purchase person to person; nice gun & investment...

Yes, it's a nice gun, but as an investment.... I don't know. Will it ever be worth enough more than $950 to make it worth it? Maybe, and it's a big maybe, but only if you take it home and lock it away and never touch it until you want to sell it. If you want it as a shooter it's too much money.

I would like to see a new 9mm revolver by S&W. The only new ones I know of are Taurus and Ruger Blackhawk with extra Cyl. The problem I have is the Taurus is a short barrel job and the Ruger is really a 357 and it's a single action ala peacemaker type. The used 547's are expensive and I would not want to shoot a new in box one or one near so. The speed six kinda the same deal with price and availability and the sp101 I do like but I want a 4"er. I would like to see something like a Model 10 but in 9mm luger. I am an EL Cheapo and scrounge 9mm brass from ranges and garage sales etc. and top them off with lead bullets. My goal is cheap paper target punching with something other than the .22.
