We still don't have any available for sale in MA even though they're on the compliant gun list with the compliant MA 10# trigger pull. Our in-state guns are custom made just for us. Ain't we lucky?
Concealed carry recently passed where I live (Wisconsin) so handguns and concealed carry type guns have been selling like hotcakes, especially the Shield. I asked a local FFL dealer about ordering one for me. He said the best bet would be for me to put my name on a list at one of the big retailers (Cabelas, Gander Mtn, etc) since according to him they get more allocation from the distributors. I put my name on a list the beginning of July at the local Gander Mtn and was #12 in-line (The other Gander Mtn near me had over 30 people on their list!!). My Shield came in about 2 weeks ago. So I figure in approximately 6 weeks they got 12 shields or roughly 2/week. I did have to pay msrp. Not thrilled about that but I wanted the gun so it was the price I had to pay. They can be had. Just takes time and a little patience.

I got mine at a local Gander Mtn. as they logged it in off their truck. I may have hosed someone on a waiting list but I asked and they plopped it down on the counter so I bought it on the spot. I guess timing is everything!

OP, you must have a lame LGS, cause Everytime I go to all the LGS down here in south Florida they're either in stock or were in stock earlier in the day before they sold. They're to be had if you want one, but for MSRP, not less than yet.
I'm in the same boat as the OP. Been waiting since beginning of May. Apparently, I'm #22 on the wait list and the shop says they haven't seen one since the beginning of May. I didn't wait this long to get my semi custom 1911 made!! I'm confident the wait will be worth it though.
