A 642 w/2.5" bbl?

If anyone knows, was this some kind of special distributor commission?
Neat concept, I have only seen before on the steel-frame models. Won't
get to a/b with some others until during the week.

I am more than familiar with older, blued 3" tubes on the 36 and 43 and such. I am just referring to this little stainless beauty. Thanks.

According to the Standard Catalog 4th Edition there were two versions manufactured in 2010 with 2.5" Full Lug barrels and full length extractor rods.
#162521 had standard grips and #162524 came with Laser grips.
In 2008 there was a Performance Center version with 2 1/8" ported barrel and black finish, #170328.

A friend of mine has one of the standard grip models. He did a really nice trigger job on it and added Crimson Trace 405 lasergrips. His particular model also has a pinned sight, so his also sports a XS big dot.

Aesthetically, the 2.5" inch on the 642 barrel looks just about perfect to me. It also is still pocket-able.
