A Classic "Space Gun"

High Standard pistols should only be shot with standard velocity ammo. HV ammo can result in cracked frames.
This is excellent advice. Also with regard specifically to the Model 102's, the ejector is somewhat fragile and may fracture from the force of the impact created by high velocity ammo.

I'd think that'd have to been made up per a special order. Possibly one of a kind.
Possibly. It is the only matching 3 barrel set I have seen in 45 years of collecting these
I wish i had bought a Victor back when they were available.
Most Victor models are fine shooters. Plenty of variations to build a collection.
I bought an NIB SH Hartford Victor years ago. Must have just missed the V. I Did not check the bore before I bought it. Looked like someone ran a screwdriver through the barrel....numerous times.

Lots of very nice HS examples on this thread.
I've become a HS fan, and I finally purchased one several months ago. I'm very impressed with the build quality and machining of the High Standard product quality.

I purchased a 1962 Supermatic Citation model 103, and impressed with the quality of the pistol.
I also have a 1959 S&W model 41 that I'm very happy with, the accuracy is a toss up between the 2 pistols, both very impressive.

The HS also came with the original grips, that's what it's wearing right now

Back when I was collecting High Standards I traded into an 8” Space Gun which I used for several years in a casual Bullseye league. I experimented with different grips, and at one time it looked a lot like an International Free Pistol. Unlike some dedicated target guns I’ve owned or shot, it was not at all pick about the ammo it was fed. Those were some fun times!

Hi All,
I am just jumping back into the forum after several years away. I still love guns, but my forum searches got shifted over to motorcycles. I always read the email I got with the start to 3-4 articles. AND, finally I got out shooting a couple weeks ago. Because I am a fan of statements like Sunday being Star Wars Day, I read it first. I don't have any "space guns" like you have shown, but I have one that I think "appears" like a space gun. This gun is so fun to shoot. I can use full velocity ammo in it and it does not break the sound barrier. When others shoot it without hearing protection they say all they hear is the plink of the target (I have a frame for thick metal gongs) or the function of action. Anyway, the forum will give me good reading during the summer heat here in AZ. And a blessing and prayer for anybody who lost their loved one in the service of our country. May they R.I.P
