It wasn't a scenario it was demonstrating a distance and how you could be placed in a situation to take a longer shot. Well if you had the moral compass to do so.

When I stated "stop the carnage" it was implied that was the bad guy and you know this because you are watching him kill people.

I never said you run into Walmart and shoot the first person you see with a firearm.

Not a scenario and that is why I included the post about distance. Because my post was about the unlikely need to shoot at a greater distance and being ready for it.

In reality this whole conversation is unlikely for most but doesn't mean I should ignore the posibility.

Here's what I typically see more and more nowadays. You see that the initial gun fight happened up close with multiple attackers who were on the move. Then it turned into a several yard gunfight with the perps who were moving, twitching, ducking, and running for cover still shooting back. Everything is use to training and practicing mostly with stationary targets and they read stuff online, and then have it in their heads that they're going to have these clean up close and personal shots where they and the perp aren't going to be moving and seeking cover or already be behind cover.... Even if you get an initial 5 yard hit, you and the attack more often than not will be creating distance and putting obstacles between you after the fact.

Most people think they're going to get one stop head, heart, or lung shots. The reality is that it almost NEVER works out thst way in real life situations, most people survive gun shot wounds, handgun rounds are terrible man stoppers, so an armed attacker may very well still be in the fight while fleeing.

Have practiced with moving target and while moving with LEO's (SWAT/SEB) and military ( infantry courses and anti- terrorist units). It is a different ball game when that happens.

Unfortunately in this day and age with our legal system you can get into a lot of trouble trying to help. If it is one of mine in trouble I will fight to the end, if not I will go.

Poll needs to include multiple options. For example, I won't have an RDS without iron sights that are fully serviceable through a dead rds.

I might prefer the rds, but I need the iron sights to work with the rds.

Looking at the poll it looks as if you have your answer...........

I'm surprised by the high percentage of irons, because of all the press hype for other systems. They don't have as much influence as I thought.

The used Glock 26 I bought came with an Ameriglo front sight. That thing is nifty when I turn off the lights in the basement and walk around in the pitch black with it.
Otherwise I would never go that route and just use the factory sights.
