A prayer request (update post #54) new update #59

fractured or broken hips are a bad deal for old folks. Hope she pulls through. My MIL is 94, and very active; my wife constantly worries about a fall and broken hip.

Kevin's (wood714) mom is 85 and fell last night and fractured her hip for the fourth time. She laid all night not being able to get to a phone. The next morning someone heard her yelling for help and they had to use a pry bar to gain entry. They just transferred her from a local hospital to a trauma hospital in Orlando which is 100 miles from Kevin.

He will find out more tomorrow about what they are going to do.

A prayer or kind word would go far as she is in pain and Kev has a lot on his heart and mind right now.

Thanks.

You and your family are in my heart, and thoughts. It's terrible to get old. My prayers have been sent, for you and your family.

Thank you all in GREAT MULTITUDES!

Seems the prayers have worked. Just talked to her nurse, and *IF* she does what they say, she will be back to 100% without surgery. She is in mass quantities of pain right now.

She's a tough lady, and won't listen to anyone. I think her thoughts may change now. She said she would go into a rehab facility if they told her she needed to. The first 3 times my dad would tell the hospital he had someone to take care of her, even thou he didn't. Just to get her back home.

Tuesday night around 1:30 she promised she was going to bed as soon as we hung up. She decided she would take some curtains down to box up instead. That's when she fell. We paid for movers to pack everything she owns to move to her future place, but she always has to be doing something.

Right now she lives 127 miles from me. I'm selling her current trailer tomorrow, and we close on her new place 25 miles from me on the 14th. I'll have to look into how I can sign for her at the closing. I have durable power of attorney, but I think that may just me for medical. I'll have to get it out and read it.

For the record I got her a Medical Guardian watch when I was in Ohio right after my dad died in August, but she never wears it. Maybe now she will.

Thanks again!!!!

Tough and stubborn can be useful qualities, but (note to self...) perhaps not always in advanced age  Good luck with all the bureaucratic claptrap involved in the move. It'll certainly be easier on both of you when you are closer :)

Yes it will. I'll be so close, if I have to I'll stay down there every night till she's asleep!

May be stopping by for supper multi times a week also.

If I have to, I'm gonna superglue that med alert thing to her arm.

Heavy prayers going up for Kevin and his mom. Rusty if you talk to him let him know he and his mom are in our thoughts and prayers.

Edit to add: Sorry to find this so late. A lot gets past me these days. And this time of year is when we stay busy cutting, splitting, hauling and stacking fire wood so even MORE stuff gets past me.

I'm glad things are going as well as they are. My prayers continue
