So I'm at my local gun show a couple of weeks ago and a guy was there selling this product that supposedly "cleans, polishes, and leaves a protective coating on fine firearms" (as well as a host of other things, including cars!). He was demonstrating on guns and I must admit, I was impressed! Made by a company called DWG International. It contains petroleum distillates but I have no clue what else is in it!

I've researched it all I can on the web, but nothing appears regarding use on guns.

Anybody out there ever heard of it or have some experience with it on gun finishes?? It is supposedly safe for blued as well as nickel finishes.:confused:

Thanks folks,
Tom

I have never used it on my guns, but I have used it for over 15 years on my restored Calypso Coral 1970 Boss 302, black 1978 F150 and my newer black or silver trucks.

Cleans and polishes the painted surfaces as well as glass, chrome, aluminum, brushed stainless. It leaves the surface very slick so you might want to keep it off the grips

I've got a bottle that i've owned for years in the shop that I mainly used on the airplane I built, especially the leading edges of wings, tail surfaces, plexy canopy, etc. and it worked great. After a few applications, bugs wiped off with less effort.

So, to answer your question about use on firearms, I just cleaned my very dirty M620. I've been testing different loadings of powder with two different styles of cast lead bullets lubed with Lee Liquid Alox. After a few hundred rounds, the 620 was pretty "gunky". The Dry Wash & Guard did a pretty good job of cleaning things up. The cylinder was pretty dirty and it cleaned up very nicely. There was some residue between the flutes (and the flutes were pretty dirty) about 1/4" back from the front of the cylinder that did not come off with the Hoppe's I'd used but the D,W & G took it off.

The smell of D, W & G brought a small tear to my eye because it reminded me of my airplane that I spent 5 1/2 years building but sold to help fund my daughter's college education. Oh, well. My wife much prefers my handgun hobbies when compared to airplanes:) Much cheaper.

As I recently bought the 620, I don't have that much experience with cleaning it with other products. I'm not sure I'd recommend someone go out and buy the D, W & G just for use on guns but it does work well for cleaning automobile windshields and I've used it on cars and trucks, as well. Kinda pricey as I remember.

It is an interesting produce, isn't it! Well, I bought a small bottle of the stuff and cleaned up one of my shooters. Really did a fine job on the exterior surfaces- I'm not brave enough to put it down the bore/cylinders! Fingerprints will not adhere to it. No damage to bluing--so far :-) Anyway, thanks for these replies guys
