I have a lead on a 3 inch 24-3 (no box/papers) with the original S&W Combats. It has a little wear at the muzzle but overall looks to be in pretty good shape. The guy wants $750 for it. Is that completely out of the ballpark or a pretty reasonable price? I looked on Gunbroker for comparisons and all the 24s I could find there had the box/papers, etc., and the prices were well over the $750.

I'm looking for a shooter/carry gun, not a safe queen so the no box/paper thing isn't a deal breaker for me. Any advice/info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

Offer him $700.00 and see if he goes for it. Maybe even $675.00. I think that gun will sell for his asking price. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but I don't think it's a crazy price for that particular revolver.

A bit high in your area. See if he will come down some or sweeten the pot for you some by adding some extras (holster, ammo, etc.)

In today's market of pre-lock S&Ws that will never be available again ...

the only answer is, "What is it worth to you?"

Jon. I hate to tell you but in this new world market $700. give or take is not unrealistic.
Many will tell you not to pay it. But I have paid that much for a 624 and
a 24-3 that was nickeled and do not regret it.

IF you spend a LOT of time in gun shops and at gun shows you will find a better deal.
But, we know little about you.
If you want to spend a lot of time looking you will find a better deal.
If you don't , buy the gun and enjoy it.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will try and talk him off his number but if he won't budge, I'll give him what he wants. I've never been a great negotiator ... :D

FWIW, I paid $800 for a LH 3" 624 no dash recently in California. Glad to have such a rare piece and soon enough the price will catch up and it will be considered a bargain.

Get the gun.

350.00 for this one out of the Darmstadt Rog & Gun club in 1986.
