Just found this place, after bringing home my first S&W wheel gun this week.
I scored a 686 with 500 rounds of ammo from a friend for a song. I could not resist. I've always been more of a semiauto guy, but my girlfriend grew up shooting her dad's revolvers, so it was time to add one to the gun safe and put a smile on her face.
First, the gun safe:
Freshly divorced and broke, and getting back into guns a few years ago, I found this old soda machine for $40, gutted it, and did the interior as you see here. I'm running out of room now, and may need to find a bigger one.
But what brought me here, was that 686.
I picked it up over a month ago, and immediately dropped it off at The Gunsmith in Phoenix. Any other Phoenicians on this board may know Nelson Ford. Great guy and an excellent gunsmith. He has worked on my stuff for more than 20 years. When I got the gun, the trigger was dangerously light, so he took care of that, and a couple other things.
I tried to get some info from S&W on the gun, but all they could come up with was a manufacture year of 1984. Nothing else. That is what led me here. I'd like to know more about the gun. I did learn that the grips are original S&W items, and people seem to really want those.
Other than guns, I'm a motorcycle guy and have been my entire life. I've been a Hayabusa owner for 19 years, and had three over that time. I find them to be an excellent road machine.
I also do a lot of aviation and motorsports photography. I'm fortunate enough to have access to some military bases and race tracks.
I also reload on a Dillon 550C. Current calibers I'm doing are 9mm, .45ACP, .44 Magnum and .223/5.56. I'll be adding 10mm to that list sooner or later. Likely later, since Dillon doesn't have any dies in stock, and won't for a while.
Enough of this. Hello to all you wankers.
