All is quiet in Sigma Land!

Other than the usual trigger whining, there hasn't been many sigma stories here lately.

Same old "boring" thing here with my 40VE. Up to 1750, 100% problem free rounds through it now. Haven't shot it in a few weeks though.
Speaking of triggers, who here has an XD? Not an XDm, but an XD. I won an XD 357 Sig at a PPC match, and while trying out the trigger on it (dry fire), it was very Sigma(ish) to me. Just as long and 90% of the "hard pull" that Siggy is infamous for.
Everyone else from my club at the match, mentioned something about the horrible trigger on the Springfield. I wouldn't call it horrible myself, but one has got to wonder how come the XD doesn't get the bad press that the Sigma does?

By the way, of 24 guns given away that night, my club took 5, and 3 others won cash. Not a bad showing, considering that there were 212 shooters there. We took 21% of the guns!
Go team!!:D

Excellent question!

1. There are still some people mad at Smith because of the Clintons.

2. Glock owners have had a vested interest in putting the sigma down since day 1, and to a lesser degree, still do.

3. The internet echo chamber.

4. Some people simply can't shoot the sigma, no offense intended to anyone, but it's true. They're not going to sign on to an internet forum and say "I suck at shooting", are they?

5. The Springer 1911's have such a devoted following, the XD was a winner before it even hit the showroom floors.

Bottom line: the sigma's reputation has gone from horrible to decent, but it's taken a long time.

For those of us who like it and appreciate it for the venerable gun that it is, rock on!

The rest of it, Lee, is that a good number of new shooters are 'internet kids' who have lived with this brain-sucker all their lives; and they look to it for gun info the way you & I used to haunt the libraries for copies of Hell I was There, No Second Place Winner or Cooper on Handguns. They assign credibility to the number of times something is repeated on the web, oblivious to the fact that a parrot can repeat things it knows utterly nothing about.

Also, they 'talk' about shooting incessantly but rarely get out and 'on the trigger' with live ammo, which is the best teacher. Given the current situation, this is hard to hold against them. I've had the good fortune to live most of my life someplace where I could walk 100 yards and sling lead without disturbing a soul.

Even rarer than good places to shoot, are accomplished and experienced shooters who are willing to take a kid under their wing and tune them up.

Finally, the drive to excel is a major component to the degree of skill you attain at any undertaking. Lots of folks just don't have it.

As I've stated before. I enjoy my Sigma. I shoot it with accuracy and find it to be very reliable. I don't have anything negative to say about the Sigma. A FINE handgun. It's resting in my night stand. ;)

Speaking of XD'S. I pick up my new XD 9 Compact next week. I'm looking forward to it. I will have a full report after my first trip to the range with it. :D

If I have my chamber in the Opened position and pull the trigger there is an audible CLICK, which is normal.
whats not normal is sometimes it doesn't click. and If I hold the trigger depressed then release a tad amount of pressure I feel and hear a faint click.
hows that for a sigma land problem? any thoughts you guys?
Other then that, which isnt an issue in the slightest, all's well!
1/4 TILL MIDNIGHT AND ALL'S WELL!

Just ran another 100 rds. through mine today. A mix of WWB, UMC, Ultramax and Hornady TAP. No failures. All center mass at 25 yards. Can't seem to find a thing wrong with this gun. I must be missing something, considering all the negative comments about it.

HAHAHAHA LOVE my Sigma!!!

Same here! Wonderfull cheap american made handgun, I have a 9ve and its just blissfull, when I think about the time I spent searching the web and gathering information pertaining to my first purchase..well glad I didnt listen to that bunch of horse SHI* and just rented one and shot it. WOOT!

First post. Have had a 9ve for a couple years now. Glad I hadn't read any of the negative thoughts before I bought it. Picked one up in a local shop while window shopping. It felt so good in my hand that I promptly returned with my check book.

Did a few mods and polished a few things. Can't make it malfunction. I have never shot factory loads in it, mostly lead. Probably close to 1500 rounds so far.

Honestly, I don't shoot any other pistols to compare accuracy or ergonomics. But it does what it's supposed to.

Not sure about your XD 357 Sig, but the trigger on my XDm .45 is pure. It strokes far smoother than my Sigma (in stock) with no stacking or other issues. It can also be improved by purchasing one of a handful of aftermarket trigger kits, which you cannot do with the Sigma. I haven't found anybody offering aftermarket trigger kits for the Sigma.

If you hold my Sigma and my XDm side by side, one in each hand, and test triggers, the XDm trigger is vastly better in stock condition. I still like my Sigma, but there is no way it's trigger is even close to the XDm

As far as the others; the Glock crowd doesn't like the XD anyway, so don't expect them to say anything kind about it.
