Always look in the attic!

And now about half the members here will be in their attics looking for guns. The guy I bought my present house from had a rock island low numbered springfield that he had kept in the attic. When he showed it to me I felt the need for a tetnaus shot. Any exposed metal was literally covered with rust. About the only thing in good shape was the stock. I told him it was a shame about the rust as it did have some limited value at least for parts. He kinda got offended and said it was worth $500 and shot real good. Kinda hated to tell him it was a low numbered 03 that was not really recommended for shooting due to the brittle receivers. Opened the bolt and looked down the barrel. About the only good thing about it was that the hole went all the way through. Guess he figured since I had the $$ for the house I'd be an easy mark for the rifle. Then there was the kubota tractor he tried to sell for 8K. Frank

He has Kubota tractor in the attic?????

Nice thread, good stories. Well not really in the attic for me, but my wife's grandfather (long gone) owned a gunshop in the 50'ies and I saw a few guns once at her father's appartment. When he passed we took them home, did not want them to be on the loose with some movers. Now they're in my safe, but still belong to the wife, can't convince her to sell them to me.

Swiss Waffenfabrik Bern ordnance 1878 revolver in 10.4 mm black powder caliber
Swiss Waffenfabrik Bern Parabellum 06/24 in 7.65 mm parabellum (.30 Luger)

Swiss K31 rifle
Beretta 34 .380 ACP
Browning Trombone rifle ANIB, .22lr pump action

Fairly small bounty considering he used to have a gun shop :(

Caj, you'd be suprised at what folks stuff in their attics. But sadly didn't keep his kubota there. Heck mu kubota will just fit in the garage. How was the show this weekend past?. Frank

I may regent telling this, but back in the late 60's early 70's a really good friends Father was acquiring abandoned ranches in West Va. When I got involved the houses and barns had been searched and anything of "value" was gone. As we "removed" the windows in one house, silver coins rained on us! Then I ripped the "header" from above the entrance dividing the kitchen from the living room and silver dollars and half dollars fell all over us! His Pa told me later he had found "old Winchesters and some Revolvers" in the attic. So, I guess I was a day late and a dollar short... Yes, again:) Kyle

When I was about 17 I had a job sorting donations at the Salvation Army. One day a young couple pulled up with a truck bed full of boxes, trash bags, and random stuff. As I began to help unload the boxes she started telling me how her grandma passed away so they were cleaning out the basement and attic. So they go on their way I start going through the boxes, About half way in I pull out a old wooden cigar box open it up and there lies a 38 revolver still loaded.
