I’m not sure there’s enough here for its own thread, if it’s not feel free to lock it up.
Since about 2000 or so I’ve noticed that the culture in America has changed dramatically. People don’t seem to care about what’s right or wrong they just do what they want and if it inconveniences you so what?
I have some neighbors that live right across the street from our apartment complex, in the summer they work on cars in their garage; one night I caught one of them dumping a fender out on the street. He looked up, saw me threw the fender in my direction (I was across the street) and said “WTF are you gonna do about it?” and walked back in his house. They also like to play their music loud enough that you can hear it all up and down the street, again with no concern that the people around them may not want to hear it.
Another example, fire code demands that the hallway doors and the outside doors be closed in our apartments. In one of the buildings someone decided they wanted the fire doors and the out side doors open for ventilation. They opened the doors, management shut the doors and they ripped the automatic closers right off the door and propped them open again.
Long story short management never figured out who did it but the pissing contest went on to the point they were welding the closers back on the doors and they were still getting ripped off the door.
Final example a story I’ve told before I caught a lady trespassing on the property right next to the one I was guarding one day, normally not my business but her dog was running loose right up next to the fence to “my” property (violation of the leash law) so I said something about it (my job remember) and she want completely ballistic on me.
She was screaming at me, cussing me out, telling me to mind my own GD business (running trespassers off was exactly my business) and telling me she was going to walk her dog where ever the footballs she wanted to walk her dog and she kept doing all of that right up to the time I picked up my radio then she took off.
My point is that people don’t seem to recognize (or care) that there’s an expected standard of behavior and they most assuredly do not recognize the authority of some random person to tell them that their behavior isn’t acceptable.
For little things I don’t waste my time “correcting” the behavior of strangers because I don’t know how they’re going to react and it’s not completely out there for some random stranger to explode on you for getting in “their business” . As I’ve said before I have nothing to gain form involving myself in other people’s drama so I don’t
