I was at a little gun shop this morning that I often hang around in to drink the free coffee.
In walked a young man with a box, I mean a BOX, of 22cal ammo he wanted to sell. The store owner asked him where he got all that ammo. He said it belonged to his grampa, who had passed away and he found it in the closet when the family was cleaning up.
As I looked over the ammo I asked "What happen to his rifles?" You'll understand why I asked when you look at the picture.
"Long gone." was his answer.

So back to the deal. He asked the shop owner how much he'd give him for the lot of ammo. "I don't resell trade-in ammo." he said, "I usually just keep it to shoot, I'll give you $60" The boy said "OK", took the three twenties and left.

..... I said to the shopkeeper "You wouldn't want to double your money would you?"

"Sure, I didn't want it anyway." I did.:)

5300 rounds of good stuff. Not all in the pic.

Grampa must of been a bench rest shooter, look at what's written on some of the boxes.

I would of liked to have met the old man. You know he was a shooter.

He will provide me and a CZ 452 American with a lot of cheap practice.

What a great opportunity! Just being at the right place and the right time is like striking gold!

Where's the green button?:mad::p:D

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!
Good on you Gail.;)

I agree, the "old man" must have been a shooter if he bought top end ammo like that. I might have offered the shop owner a little less to start out! LOL

And now you also know that the shop owner is a liar!

You could be right and you could be wrong. Had the OP not been there maybe he would not have sold it as a normal practice.

But there was a guy that likely didn't think it was his place to make a counter offer since he was drinking the dealers coffee and liked to hang out there.

So after the seller left he, the coffee drinker, made an offer and the shop owner took it.

Doubling your money in a few minutes buying something you maybe didn't want that bad and giving a deal to a customer sounds like good business to me.

Would you be interested in selling the Fioochi ammo? My 1813 Anschutz likes it very well. Almost as well as my Russian Temp and Eley Tenex and Blackbox. Yes, I am a smallbore 3&4 position shooter and finding good ammo is a challenge.

Not sayin' the OP did or said anything wrong in any way. I would have made a similar offer. But the fact is that the shop owner said he would not do a thing and he did exactly that thing. That makes him a liar - no gray areas about it. My remark was an aside I should have kept to myself, mea culpa.

I wonder if the grandson had granpa's 22. From the looks of the ammo selcetion grandpa was a serious 22 shooter.

WOW! Good score. I shudder to think that that all would cost these day retail.

Have fun and be safe.
