An Old Pair of N Frames

Back in the day you could actually buy guns like these without taking out a second mortgage on your house. There was actually a time when nobody even wanted them. Just had to put them together. They do make a good pair. . .a 45 and a 44.

That Second Model is the one I got last week that was made in 1917, commercialized during the 1920's, and sold in 1946. Jim is the one that came up with all that great information. The 44 was manufactured in 1908 but sold in 1913.

Oh wow, I didn't even recognize it! When you were referencing back in the day, I got the impression the set had been together for a while.

I did buy the 44 back in the day in 1979 for $250. Only had the 45 for a week now. I am about through detailing the 45. I use a Q-Tip to remove every trace of surface residue to get back to the original finish where needed. . .very selective detailing. It takes about a week before I'm satisfied. I'm pretty sure a bullet has never passed through the barrel of the 45. It still has glazing in the grooves from when the barrel was cut.
