LOL, then I better STAY in the drift from now on. ;)

Just left my appointment at Sloan-Kettering and they confirmed what I'd seen when I sneaked a look at my CAT-scan results on-line. The latest lung tumor that they found, doubled in size in the past six months.

They're giving me another six months, and then determine If I can survive the removal of one last chunk of whats left. So, I'll just keep drifting to avoid that time constraint! Thanks, I needed that!

Keeping one step ahead of the scythe.

I can't give that a like for obvious reasons, but I can assure you that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

My dad's ancestors came from the little fishing village of Crosshaven, across the harbor (or "harbour") from Cobh, in the late 1700's.

Yesterday I was released from jury service shortly after 5:00 and emerged tired and hungry from the Harris County Criminal Courts Complex then made my way to the appropriate bus stop for my return journey home. The Number 20 bus picks me up 10 minutes later and I'm one of three passengers on the entire bus. I find a seat with lots of legroom, kick back, relax and think... This is much better than driving, the traffic out there stinks.

I few minutes later the bus is cruising west on Memorial Drive at 50 MPH. It is a beautiful drive along the northern edge of the parks lining Buffalo Bayou. The speed limit drops to 35 as we approach a small residential area just east of Memorial Park. Then I feel it and hear it... Thump. The driver pulls over at a bus stop and gets out.

She comes back in and says... my mirror just hit a pole sticking out in the street, its safety equipment I cannot continue on, I have another bus coming (there are still only three passengers), she has to wait for a supervisor.

I got out and took a look at the damage and told her that I'm tall enough. I'll just reach up there and adjust the mirror for her and we can go on. She said, there is no mirror there. I glanced over and noticed a mirror sitting on a freebee Spanish language newspaper box and said... Why there's your mirror, I'll get some chewing gum and duct tape at that convenience store and we can be on the road in no time.

She looked over and said... That's my mirror! I held it up to the mirror housing and it was a perfect fit. I looked at her and said, the thump I heard was about a block back, how did the mirror get all the way down here. She said... When I hit that pole the mirror just flew right by us!

So I took pictures as a bus carrying three passengers blocked one of three westbound lanes of a major Houston roadway during rush hour. I assure you that driver will be nice to me if I ever get on one of her buses again. The Supervisor arrived before the second bus, which had another three passengers on it.

What a Day !!

Wife said i could buy a real nice gun for my Birthday coming up next week
So i been looking at my local pushers stores for something that really
strikes my fancy. After lunch today we stopped at one of my favorites
and after exchanging "greetings" with the guys working i immediately
walked over to (the old man case). You know, the used revolver case.
I saw three blued S&W's and crept closer to the glass to view the
all important price tags. A model 18 with Targets in really good shape,
a model 17 with just a little wear and a chip on the bottom of the
Diamond Magnas, and a 4" 63 kit gun with Diamond Magnas.
After some very brief haggling i walked out with the 18-2 and the 17-2
thus leaving a really nice kit gun for another S&W enthusiast.
I was in such a good mood when i got home i even mowed the yard.
But then after mowing the yard and enjoying an ice cold beer i had
that moment that makes you feel good about being an American
citizen. I went down to the city hall and Voted !!

Done a lot of cool things and been to a lot of great places in my
life but it still gets me deep inside to go stand in line for 10 minutes with
community members and friends to cast my vote.

My grandpaw used to tell me, you can't complain if you don't vote.

Thanks for the Congrats!

I was only there at the MRI facility for total of an hour? They just did my bottom half. They said they would email the results to my quack. And I'd guess she'll get back with me for a follow up?

But still hurting. Hoping nothing serious like hip socket damage, from being messed up for the last few years from my run in with the drunk driver.

On May the 5th, it will be 4 years since they removed my leg. Sometimes it Seems like 20? It's been a long learning curve. Learning to drive with NO extra controls, learning to walk, shower, even using the restroom all over again,

I don't really think God intended no one to walk on their shin? But at least I'm dirt side up. And somewhat enjoying life! I couldn't have made it without support and love from my family and friends! I've been blessed!!!

Thanks Again!!

Best Wishes there SW MP15,
I applaud your (get up and go) attitude. Sounds like you've made the best out of a bad situation.
I sure hope that the MRI has good news for you.
Prayers for a positive outcome sir.

I'm heading off to a neighborhood pizza party for a bit and a bite. Here's the May 3, 1945 scoop on what was going on on the Yolo.

May 3, 1945

The weather this night was wretched; so bad that no alerts were sounded. Sleep was impossible for me and those on watch, as a merchantman anchored close-by began swinging to her anchor in erratic circles making clearance between the two ships close indeed. It is a typical example of a captain not having anchored properly. Anchorages are marked on a chart and by bearings it is relatively simple to anchor on a spot. When COs are careless, difficulties arise. During the morning a second ship let out more chain, it too, with that maneuver moved ever closer to Yolo. I could stand it no longer and moved the ship closer to the beach.

By morning the clouds drifted away and the sun came out. With no wind the sea was a flat calm. Naturally business was brisk. Ship after ship came alongside for supplies. So many small vessels are coming by we cannot handle them. These ships have been operating for more than a month by pleading for a little of this and that from the larger vessels. Time has run out! They need everything from supplies to ammunition. Yolo has neither the manpower nor storage to handle all requests. To complete the picture other barges and ships wait their turn to come alongside. Some are so impatient they leave without a word of explanation. All have scuttlebutt and news to impart exchange and pass on. Along Yolo's port side a number of rusty, muddy, dirty barges, with their unkempt personnel, tied up. The barges and their personnel remain at work until relieved by another crew. Yolo provides them food, a shower, clean clothes and a bed.

By 2200 the men had been to GQ twice. All indications point that this could be a night of harassment. Failing to penetrate the screen in early attacks, a number of enemy were downed some miles out. Today the Japanese concentrated on picket station 10, bearing 260T, and some 72 miles from Bolo. All ships at this station became victims of a vicious attack. Aaron Ward (DM 34) was hit; Little (DD 803) was blasted by 24 planes and sunk by 1855. LSM(R) 195 was hit at 1910 and abandoned. LCS 25 was damaged while trying to help out. At station 9, bearing 245T and 52 miles from Bolo, Macomb was hit. Casualties for all were 90 dead and 158 wounded.

or road apples [emoji14]
Thing is, if you wanna hit someone with a road apple, you gotta get 'em fresh, so you can mold 'em into a ball.
If you let 'em get flattened and dry, they just break apart in flight.

Pawngal's got sunshine. I want sunshine. Been dreary, gloomy cloudy, drizzly, foggy.
It's been drizzerable. Drizzly and Miserable.
There!
I coined a word.
Now, I'm gonna go have me a froo-froo Grapefruits Shandy.
YES! It's back in stock at the LPS. You know. Like the LGS. Only P is for pack...
oh nevermind. You get it.
They better not run out of it before August like last year.
What a tragedy.
