Annoyed at thread drift

Good morning drifters. It's 55 in the desert this morning and if things work out the sun will come up as usual.

Honky tonks, man the memories. Have I been in a few? I could talk for days about that but I know you folks would tire of that pretty quick so I won't. People drinking to forget others drinking to remember but all of them playing music. Me I can't play anything but the radio and even that only since digital came to be. Before that you had to tune the radio and I always seemed to get the station just a little off and it would come and go usually right in the middle of a really good song. Therefore I had to carry a girl around with me everywhere I went just to keep the radio tuned, of course that wasn't a bad thing either.

You know I bet there would be a lot more wars if there wasn't music to keep us savage beasts calm and peaceful. I can't think of anything that music can't make a little bit better.

I had to pull this back up and comment. OK, I admit to trying the online dating thing. Actual dates with 4 different guys. Only one I would liked to have seen more of. Texts & phone calls with 6 others that that weren't worth the time of day.

But alcohol and poor judgement landed the the love of my life, my late husband. Go figure!

I think all of us here in the drift are music lovers of one type or another. I can't sing, period. When my kids were little they would put their hand over my mouth if I even tried. I can play a little piano but that is it. No talent period.

Country is my favorite genre, from Hank Thompson or Bob Wills to Dierks Bentley, probably from too many nights in too many honky-tonk bars but enjoy a lot of others types too. Lots memories come from music, some good, some not. My life would be very empty without music. I have XM radio in my truck and in the house so it is always just a touch away.

Sounds similar! We have built XM in the car. Added XM unit to the truck, plays through an adaptor. Cannot sing a note, in fact was kicked out of a youth marching band, because of my size inherited the bass drum, and it took the director a 'little' while to figure out why the band could not keep in step! Can not carry a beat either. Wife is a very good singer, son is a HS music director, plays a mean tenor sax, and most other instruments. Plays with jazz bands etc.
Since Sirius, discovered Willies' Roadhouse, then blues, and the jazz stations. In most cases prefer instrumental, but some voices and particularly Texas Swing just make it right. 50's, 60's, rock is great though comes and goes with me. Anything newer, not so much, though the wife does, so !??!??!

I know what you mean Snubby. Sometime back when I started getting back into guns. One of the few I had at the time was a SW40VE, which I believe was the one that Glock sued S&W over the patents. That gun flat didn't work for me & I had a devil of a time field stripping it. Add to that a 14lbs trigger & it became one of three pistols that I ever sold in my life.
That's the thing, everything else was just right. I tried the Shield, it didn't feel right and the trigger was difficult for me.
I was already thinking of a holster design for it.

When you say you would have liked to see more of him, did you mean that literally or figuratively? Inquiring minds want to know...:D:cool:

Ah the old days. Cruising down the road, radio cranked, beer in one hand, cigarette in the other and steering with my knee.

I remember way, way, back when pop rings & twist off caps were introduced. One of my uncles was over & he & my Dad were having a beer(not me, not yet anyways!)and I watched him pop the ring on a can of brew. I said "Boy that would really come in handy when you;re driving! You wouldn't even have to pull over & look for a can opener, just pop it & keep going!" My uncle looked at my Dad & said "You're going to have to watch this one!".

Side note: another three posts in a row...Go Post Count, Go!

Good Morning!

Well, it's a rainy 43 degree day here in Middle Tennessee. I'm not doing anything. Grandson is home because it's George Washington's bad hair day, or something like that.

Stayed up too late last night ordering stag grips for my Colt XSE's. It's going to be cool.

Wifey was REAL sick yesterday, but determined to go to work today. She's only missed probably 4 days in 20 years. I always worked for myself, so I missed when I wanted too. But she was a real porcupine yesterday. i know because, She called me what a porcupines quill will do to you, several times yesterday. Glad she went to work, let those other mean 4 so called "ladies" deal with her today. Maybe she'll feel better after being sharp tongued to me, all day yesterday? They can sit around and plot how mean they can be to their husbands all day? I guess that's what they do? Isn't marriage grand!!

So nothing else going on, in my simple world! But hanging out on a rain drenched day! Thank goodness it's NOT snow!

So, back to your regularly scheduled Monkey Aholic meeting!!

Good morning everyone! Hoping everyone is off to a good start for the new week? ;) Expecting some more wonderful winter weather in these parts! The temp is like 19 degrees with snow coming in today but turning to rain and temp raising to 50! What the heck is going on?
Well I have no place to go so I guess I will just sit back and watch it happen!
Maybe I'll open up the safe and check things out and put a silicone cloth to good use! And of course with some good background music ;)

33 Days until Spring!

It's all so subjective. I bought my shield with 400 rounds already through it. The trigger isn't light but predictable. It puts the bullet where I want it. I can see where a semi-auto could be a pain...literally...for you. My favorite semi to shoot is my CZ Compact. It's not a little gun but it sure is a shooter.

I own Colts, I own Kimbers, I own S&W's. Rugers, A HK USP 40 compact and a full sized 45 and Blah Blah. But one of my favorite shooters is my Beretta 92fs. It's NOT a carry gun. But Beretta has others in its line up, that "might" fit your needs? So don't over look all your options. There are several other manufactures that "may" have something to suit your needs?

My wifey and daughter both got their carry permits last spring (I've had mine for 20+ years), but last fall I bought my daughter a S&W 380 bodyguard with the laser. She absolutely LOVES it! I absolutely despise it! I bought my wifey a Kimber Solo (I love it) And she can shoot it, but prefers one of my model 60's for daily carry.

And one great thing about my area is, we have several LARGE gun shops that also have state of the art indoor ranges. And they have rental guns of all types. That's another option?

I think your trying to stay loyal to The S&W brand, and that's Great, but there are many other great options out there.

Think outside the Blue box!

I've been trying Sig, Glock, Ruger, Springfield and others.
I've found that the double stack grip and the trigger on the M & P felt the most compatable with my gimpiness and the compact seems more concealable.
Now there's the new Ruger LC9s. Haven't had a chance to hold one yet.
Since I'm on a very tight budget, I'm going to have to choose wisely.
