LOL, then I better STAY in the drift from now on. ;)

Just left my appointment at Sloan-Kettering and they confirmed what I'd seen when I sneaked a look at my CAT-scan results on-line. The latest lung tumor that they found, doubled in size in the past six months.

They're giving me another six months, and then determine If I can survive the removal of one last chunk of whats left. So, I'll just keep drifting to avoid that time constraint! Thanks, I needed that!

Keeping one step ahead of the scythe.

I can't give that a like for obvious reasons, but I can assure you that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

My dad's ancestors came from the little fishing village of Crosshaven, across the harbor (or "harbour") from Cobh, in the late 1700's.

Yesterday I was released from jury service shortly after 5:00 and emerged tired and hungry from the Harris County Criminal Courts Complex then made my way to the appropriate bus stop for my return journey home. The Number 20 bus picks me up 10 minutes later and I'm one of three passengers on the entire bus. I find a seat with lots of legroom, kick back, relax and think... This is much better than driving, the traffic out there stinks.

I few minutes later the bus is cruising west on Memorial Drive at 50 MPH. It is a beautiful drive along the northern edge of the parks lining Buffalo Bayou. The speed limit drops to 35 as we approach a small residential area just east of Memorial Park. Then I feel it and hear it... Thump. The driver pulls over at a bus stop and gets out.

She comes back in and says... my mirror just hit a pole sticking out in the street, its safety equipment I cannot continue on, I have another bus coming (there are still only three passengers), she has to wait for a supervisor.

I got out and took a look at the damage and told her that I'm tall enough. I'll just reach up there and adjust the mirror for her and we can go on. She said, there is no mirror there. I glanced over and noticed a mirror sitting on a freebee Spanish language newspaper box and said... Why there's your mirror, I'll get some chewing gum and duct tape at that convenience store and we can be on the road in no time.

She looked over and said... That's my mirror! I held it up to the mirror housing and it was a perfect fit. I looked at her and said, the thump I heard was about a block back, how did the mirror get all the way down here. She said... When I hit that pole the mirror just flew right by us!

So I took pictures as a bus carrying three passengers blocked one of three westbound lanes of a major Houston roadway during rush hour. I assure you that driver will be nice to me if I ever get on one of her buses again. The Supervisor arrived before the second bus, which had another three passengers on it.
