...four of us guys would pile in a car and head to the drive-in movies armed with these...except the bottles weren't twist off cap...had to take a church key...

For us it was Miller (punks). Two or three chugs and it's
gone. Never had to worry about warm beer. :D:D:D
And a pouch of Beechnut while crusin' a dirt road in the country.

16 inch shell
This is a 2,700 lb. AP (armor piercing) shell. The battleship guns that fired it have a maximum range of 40,185 yards (23 miles). The AP round will penetrate 30 feet of concrete. In Vietnam, single rounds were used to clear 200-yard diameter landing Zones in triple-canopy jungle. The rounds made craters 50 feet wide and over 20 feet deep. These pictures are from a military vehicle museum the American Society of Military History based in South El Monte, CA

The New Jersey fired some of those at the NVA in the AShau Valley in 68 iirc. You could here them going by,they kept the troops very far away! Way cool to shoot shells that weigh more than some small cars!

Does anyone know the approximate mark up of a shot of Tangueray Vodka from what it would cost in a fifth bottle in a discount store, to what it costs in a typical bar on a per ounce basis? I could probably do the math if I knew what a shot goes for in a bar, but that much math on an empty stomach always gives me a headache.

I just need to know how much money I could save drinking a fifth at home alone, rather than drinking a fifth one shot at a time in a high class bar so I can prove how much money my drinking has saved.

Since I appear to be among experts, could anyone tell me if you can still buy beer by the quart bottle. Used to that was a primary way of buying it, a quart bottle in a paper bag and down the sidewalk I would stumble. But I have not seen it in a quart bottle in Decades. It could be I just don't go into liquor stores any more or maybe they were discontinued?

As a kid we could get a quart of cold Pearl beer to go for about 50 cents, brown bag included.

The dude who plays Glenn on The Walking Dead also played Sheldon Cooper's roommate that preceded Leonard. No wonder the roommate agreement makes provisions for a zombie apocalypse.

If you have no idea who these people are, don't worry about it. Wheel of Fortune is fun too.

This one was bought in September at a small Mexican specialty store. It was around $3.50 as I recall. The 24-25 ounce cans are easier to find and run about $2.50.

Back "in the day", my herbal adventures were most often accompanied with a fine wine, Yago Sangria, Strawberry Hill, Boones Farm & my personal favorite, Bali Hai. These early experiences with the vintner's art forever influenced my taste buds, & now if a wine doesn't taste like soda pop I probably won't like it. My Dad likes the super dry stuff, & I'll drink it every now & then, but in my mind I hear that old song from South Pacific: Bali Hai, is calling...

In Texas the taxes are different for liquor by the drink and liquor bought in liquor stores, so the bar does not pay the same at wholesale as a liquor store does. I think it will work out that a drink in a bar will cost about 4 to 6 times what it would go for if you poured your own.

If it will penetrate 30 feet of concrete why was the hole in the ground only 20 feet deep? I mean come on now, concrete is a lot harder and tougher than dirt in most areas.

Hey, Snubbyfan! Good for you!!!

I'm tired. So therefore uninspired.
Think' I'll go retire for the evening.

Speaking of retiring. I've got my bosses retirement party to go to tomorrow.
I feel I should dress in black. It's like mourning, you know?
Happy for her she's "going to a better gig", and sad for me being left behind.

To lighten things up I might add my elf hat.

Night-night, y'all. Drift on.

Concrete Is dense and the molecules are tightly packed. The shock wave tears them apart while dirt is loosely packed , with air pockets, and will absorb a lot of the shock wave.

That is the difference between AP and HE

Who notes the charges required are different depending on projectile.

I hear you and agree, all the girls really liked those wines and to be a good host I had to partake myself. We made some wicked punches out of those wines and anything with a high alcohol content!(ever clear, gin, vodka, rum, etc.) No wonder I turned out like I did!

This was from an article on the Battleship.
Must be the AP round on concrete and
different round for clearing jungle.
Why would they use an AP round for clearing jungle?
