Some-thing's going 'round here.

My throat was on fire, nose running or clogged - either way it wouldn't let me sleep.

Did some zinc lozenges and melts, seems to have kicked it to the curb.

Still a bit wiped out, but better.

Heal up out there!

Thank you and hope for yours to be completely gone fast. They just did a story in the news on this last night and were saying for this bug--so far the best thing was to take both Dayquil and Nyquil--so I got those and plenty of suger free cough drops. I took some early this morning and actually do feel a little better. Hoping the trend continues :-))

I have had it for 3 weeks and the wife has it also.

Hope yall feel better soon. The last one I had lasted 6 weeks before allwassaid and done. This one my ears arent stopping up--at least yet--but eyes, nose runny--sneezing more than I normally do--the dry hacking cough drives me nuts.

I've been coughing up pieces of lung since Sunday. Been living on Mucinex, Advil and George Dickel.

Ive been flooding yself with HOT coffee, hot chocolate, loads of ice water--and sometimes tea. Mainly--the hot coffee isnt on my normal menu bt--sometimes seems to help.

My girlfriend and I caught the stomach flu in Gettysburg, PA this past weekend. She primarily just had drowsiness, stomach cramps, and bad headaches. I had VERY bad "stomach problems" (lots of the "d-word"...like 20-30 times per day for the first day, then 10-20 times the second day, and slowly got better), but also a mild fever, drowsiness, sore body, etc. Also I got the flu shot and she didn't.

I have Gerd, so I know how you all feel. Hope you all fine soon. I have tokeep a small pharmacy with me most days even just to gopay bills or grocery shop.

My kids have been sick for two weeks, daughter brought it back from middle school. Now whole school is sick. 1/4 of the kids are missing any day this week. My fever broke last Friday after a week. I would still likely be sick without flu shot.

I got the flu shot early--came down with the flu latter that week. Soon as I got over that? I caught the 6 weeks thing from someone--now this.

My Grand Daughter just got over a bout with something. Took her to the doctor and he thought it was a bad sinus problem. She had a hell of a cough that sounded like a small dog barking for about 2 weeks. She had a pretty high temperature there at the last of it she got to 104.2 and scared the daylights out of Grandpo and Mimi. She is OK now but really had us worried. Ibuprofen really knocked that temp. She was given some kind of antibiotic. I thought sinus problems would be more bacterial type of infection, but I'm not a doctor. I just pay them large amounts of $$. Get well soon and take care of yourself.
peace

Thank goodness she is better. Having a temp that high aint good. Last time I ran a temp like that--was several years ago and wound up in the ER.It was soemhting else going around that made your sides cramp--stomach dry heave--runs constantly untill you were dangerously lowon body fluids. I had to spend 8 hours--twice in a year-in the ER with two IVs stuck in me.

That happened to me. You are lucky if your kidney's didn't fail. Mine did. The guy came in to tell me my kidneys failed and I told him thanks for telling me. He said, "YOUR KIDNEYS FAILED". I said, "Yes, I understand, thanks for telling me." He got really agitated and I told him that I understood that it was terrible, but I was glad to be alive. There wasn't any use crying over it. Anyway, I was lucky and over time much of my kidney function have returned. I must have gotten the fluids just in time.

You sound likei do when at the Drs office and or Hospital. They telmesomehting bad--and I respond they way you do.I was in an ambulance going to Brackenrdge Hospital in Austin--beause I had passed out after an exercise walk(2nd time that year) and this timeI was onscious but didnt have the strength to get up off the ground. I had been lying there for at least 30 minutes (in total darkness) and my brother foundmeby alost stumbling over my prone body. Asked what I was doing lying lying on the ground and told himI passed out. He called for an ambulance--and I heard their sirens when they left the area station. They got there and the medic took my readings and said he was surprised I was still alive. My BP was then at 30--but since it happened 30 minutes ealier--he estimated mine would have been about 25--and said he loses people often whose level is 30 or slightly higher. He basically was surprised so much that I lived--and he blurted out that I should be dead. Ispent a week in the hospital because of that oen.

I believe, specifically during winter months, that riding on any mass transportation is an invitation to contract anything that's going around. Also, if you have school age children in your family you can expect to catch everything there as well. You're only defense is to get the flu shot and do all the personal hygiene things like washing hands etc. Still, the nasty viruses slip in and make you miserable for a couple weeks a year. And, the older you are, the more these things can affect you. It's just that time of year.

Thats me to a tee. I wash hands every time necessary, carry hand sanitizer, etc. I still got hit anyway. Most of this could eb avoided if some people had any manners and consideration for others.

If you were a schnauzer we might have to put you down.

That was a bad one that time too. From 2nd to near last day--the thought of dying really wasnt too unpleasant. Luckily,I seem to get better quickly--but still not as fast as I would have liked.

+1 on the zinc lozenges. We keep a good supply of Cold-Eze lozenges around here. Take one as soon as you feel symptoms such as a scratchy throat or runny nose coming on. They just work. Most of the time it will halt whatever is coming on. If the crud has already set in, using the lozenges will shorten the duration of whatever has you by the throat. The trick is to make them last in your mouth, letting them bathe your throat. Your mouth will taste like you licked a galvanized garbage can when you are done, but it beats getting sick. I've tried Zicam, Airborne, echinacea, vinegar and honey, mass doses of vitamin C, etc., but nothing stops something coming on like the Cold-Eze lozenges do. We've been using them since discovering them in Costco years ago, and I rarely get a cold anymore and haven't had a sinus infection since using them. I used to end up with a cold or ear/sinus infection nearly everytime I went flying. Now I'll take a lozenge during climbout, and another during descent and no problem.

'Preciate the heads up. Something seems to be going on around here too but we don't spend much time out in public so we have been lucky so far. (Knock on wood).

You have my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I would ask a favor of you. If you make it to the gun show later this month check the price of the Ruger SR-1911. If there is a vendor there from Klute Texas (It will be a huge one with lots and lots of tables) called AJC SPORTS Check them out. I was at the Pasadena show a couple of weekends ago and they were selling it for $616.00 plus tax (cash price). I'm currently shopping this gun and I've never seen it this low. I just visited my LGS and he wanted $757.00 plus tax. From my experience that is not too bad a price.

I'm kickin' myself for not buying the one at the gun show. I'm probably better off not getting it but I may not ever see it at that price again.

I also handled a Colt Gold Cup. Price...1397.00. But that's another dream....

Sugar free cough drops...

The way THOSE work is they loosen up your bowels so much, you're afraid to sneeze or cough!

No joke, sugar free candies do that.

And here I thought I was the basket case and everyone else here was as healthy as a horse. Now I know I'm truly among "my people" (loving Smith & Wessons and hanging on by a finger nail half the time).

Had the viral gastroenteritis real bad over Christmas. The D-word big time. It began when I went to my Mother-in-Law's for the holidays. (First mistake). Tiny house full of 30 people of all ages, from 1 month to 70 years old. The whole extended family. Lots of little school kids. Packed in like sardines. Ate there. (Second mistake). :(

Sister-in-law's one month old granddaughter... "We just had her to the hospital for an I.V., wanna hold her?" Me, "No." Just about everyone else did. They all got sick. "We're not feeling well, so we're going home to rest." "We're gonna to leave our two sick granddaughters here, one who's just been hospitalized for two days. Enjoy them. Bye."

The baby, poor little kid, was a miniature Typhoid Marry. Anyone that got even near her got sick. New born, cute as a bug, so everyone's passing her around. "Coochy coo!" Hugs and kisses. Then a whole posse went to visit a Great Aunt that had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. I tried to tell my wife, to tell her mom, that was not a good idea. They went anyway. A few days later the poor woman had it.

I'm still feeling good, and I went to visit my Mom and Dad the day after Christmas. (Third mistake). I came down with symptoms a day latter. Eventually, my Mom and Dad got it. They're both in their 80's. My mom didn't leave her bed for two days - except for frequent trips to the bathroom. My dad threw up, had the runs, said he hadn't been that sick in 50 years. (We still watched about a million college bowl games). A week later, they're still recovering. My 16 year old son got. Then my wife. Even our dog was acting lethargic. ;)

This was one nasty bug. I'd say at least 25 of the 30 that were in that house Christmas Eve came down with it. Highly contagious. And it's not even the bad flu they're talking about on the news. I still haven't got that one. Something to look forward too.

So far, I haven't gotten much worse. Minor sore throat and a light dry cough.

I've been taking some otc cold med, but no cough syrup yet.

I can't take Nyquil at all, so tonight before bed, it's a hot toddy for me.

Here's hoping all y'all get better quickly.

I've got something now. It's the worst thing ever, fever, chills, horrible cough, aches and pain. In fact I've been in contact with the CDC and we're trying to come up with a name for it. I've been treating it with chicken noodle soup, moonshine, and circus peanuts.

Heh heh, what got tome was right after I took my first dose of Nyquil. I felt it moving its way down to the stomach--ran into the restroom where I sat for about 30 minutes--I was trying to go to bed. This morning--it was just as bad as last night.

BTW, the Nyquil didnt make me sleepy. I still fell asleep anyway--buy after the approx normal amount of time it usually takes for me to nod.

Chicken Noodle--or Rice etx soup--does seem to do wonders. I had a can of it last night--felt better except the darn cough.

Tomorrow will be two weeks. I've had a fever the entire time, although the past few days have been in the low 99's. I finally started to feel better about 3-4 days ago, but I can't stop coughing and my throat is sore.

Caught it from my son, who of course was over it in 3 days. Somehow, with great restraint on my part, and great patience on my wife's, the baby didn't catch it, neither did my wife.
