Not as big or newsworthy as the one at around 3:00 a.m. this morning, which I won't refer to as it has been closed on this forum, but just as senseless and closer to home. Around 6:00 a.m. this morning my friend Jason was gunned down while gassing up his truck on the way to a deer camp. This happened in the tiny town of State Line,Ms. The clerk at the gas station and another customer were also shot and killed. The clerk had locked herself in a back room. The perp kicked in the door to the room, made her unlock a safe, and then shot her in the face. He then stole her car and abandoned it a few miles away on the Alabama side of Hwy 42. A man hunt is going on in that area. I met Jason about 20 years ago through his father-in-Billy. They had a camp near State Line. We hunted several times a year at that camp. Billy passed away five years ago and I quit hunting there mostly because of distance, age, and the fact that I have a lot of deer in my back yard. I still frequently talk with Jason's son Mason. He's in his early 20's. He's got a gun collection, a lot of it inherited from his grandfather Billy, and he calls me and my son a lot asking gun questions and just keeping in touch. Another friend gone. There are several stories on this at WDAM.com. the local TV station.

Robbery may be despicable, but it’s pretty easy to understand. Killing people, after you’ve already gotten what you wanted, is just totally incomprehensible to me. I’m sorry for the loss of your friend and the others you mention. I too wish one of them had been able to fight back. Imagine the terror felt by the poor clerk in her last seconds.

What a horrible event, that’s just terrible.
I’m sorry for your loss.

I am sorry for the senseless deaths of your friend and the other two people. The pain and anguish that has fallen on their friends and families will be endured the rest of their lives.

So sorry for the loss of your friend, prayers for the families of all the victims of this senseless crime. Hope they track down the scum who did this, he needs to be off the streets permanently.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend and the senseless deaths of others. My decade as a criminal defense attorney taught me that goblins are real and there are a lot of them out there. I live in a quiet, upscale neighborhood on a dead-end street. I carry

That's one we did not see on the national news, like the numerous murders that happen every week in the Atlanta area. When I hear someone declare crime is down I just shake my head.

My condolences to you Charlie.

Terrible news. I lost a friend in very similar circumstances, very sorry for your loss bud.
