Any espresso drinkers out there?

I was a Navy Chief. When I go to Dutch Brothers, I order the nine shot espresso.

I like to grind my own espresso beans and use a French press occasionally. It’s a lot of work. I’ve never found a single serve keurig pod that was strong enough. I assume espresso pods would hit me the same. I’m pretty content with just a hot, strong black coffee.

NOW we're talkin' ESPRESSO:eek::eek:;):D

WHOA! :eek: That machine looks familiar. I think there was a previous thread on coffee and someone (maybe me) posted a pic of it.

My gf likes her lattes and last year "go into" an espresso machine and the intricacies thereof, which some days nearly drove her to despair, but now she's got it down pretty well. She started with a deLonghi (I think) but now has a Gaggia :D

She has a FB acquaintance in Ottawa who went whole hog on his espresso setup. I think the grinder is a Rancilio and the espresso machine from Ecco (Germany). Molto dinaro for all that but I bet he makes a fine espresso.

I usually order a Flat White when going to a cafe, etc. (Did you know the term "Flat White" originated in Sydney, Australia). Otherwise it's justed the trusted Instant Coffee that I love. You might call me uncivilised, but it will do me.

(Sorry. You blokes must be getting sick of me always adding in some Aussie context to everything).

If you like strong, black coffee, use a dark roast rather than espresso beans, which aren't actually all that strong; they get their intensity from the espresso process. And don't grind them as fine as espresso if you're using a French press.

I like strong, dark coffee, too, but moderated with cream and brown sugar. I use a Baratza Virtuoso grinder and a French press. I buy whole bean "Grizzly Claw" from a Canadian roaster, Kicking Horse Coffee. (Available in the US too, but there are lots of others.)

I do like a real espresso from time to time, and can often drink it "straight", wthout sugar if it's really good. Can't make 'em at home, though. My gf buys Peet's espresso beans for her lattes.
