ANYBODY FOR A SCOTCH?

I'm not a guy but the next time I see a bottle of it I'm going to splurge for it. I've had several pours of it in my travels in and around Nashville. Good Stuff!!!

Sorry - from time to time I forget their are Women here as well........ :o

I know I'm a heretic as judged by Scotch connoisseurs, but heaven help me, I truly like the flavor of Cutty Sark. I have tried several of the $50 to $60 a bottle single malts and I do appreciate them, but I still go back to Cutty Sark for my serious evening drink in the Sun Room while watching the sun go down and conversing with my wife.

This reminds me of a story; I came home from work one evening to find my wife in the Sun Room with a Cutty Sark and soda prepared for me. She had a glass of what looked like Coke. I asked her what she was drinking and she told me that since I like Scotch so much that she tried some but didn't like it so she mixed Coke with it and it was pretty good. The only thing that bugged me about this event was that she use the $90 a bottle single malt that I had bought myself for my 69th birthday. BTW, I tried a swallow of her drink and I had to admit it was pretty good. ....... :-(

For that price I would expect a whole damned barrel!

I'm a bourbon man myself. I never could acquire a taste for scotch.

Sometimes nothing but a good Bourbon and water will do. Then sometimes nothing but ........

My son bought me a glass of the best scotch available at a local
restaurant a couple years ago. Chemicals was what it tasted of to
me.

I don't drink a lot of hard liquor. When I do it is bourbon for me.

My feelings about Scotch whiskey are very simple. I'm a Kentucky Colonel, and I've taken the oath to never let such swill to touch my lips, forever and ever, amen.

Now good Kentucky bourbon is a pleasure that true gentlemen savor as absolute ambrosia.

Used to be a Scotch drinker, but the charms of bourbon have won out (and, admittedly, the quality price point doesn’t hurt either) After trying/buying a few stupidly expensive Scotches, a quality bourbon at less than $100 / bottle is fine by me. Sinatra Select is nice, to be sure, but the JD Gold is much more reasonable. I’ll save the silly money for a bottle of Pappy’s :)

I had a Scotch habit for a few, then money got tight and I could not even afford beer, even Pabst Blue Ribbon, So when I got a real job and money coming in I found a new interest bourbon, wheated 10+years old.

Single malt scotch is my tipple of choice.

The oldest one I've tasted came from one of the 88 bottles that were put in the former bourbon barrel in February 1952, just days before Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II was corronated. The cask was bottled to celebrate the queen's 60th diamond jubilee celebration.

One of the two brothers who owned the independent bottler that filled the 88 bottles poured a wee dram for me at the Victoria (British Columbia, Canada) Whisky Festval. It wasn't the "best" single malt I've tasted, but it was fabulous. A bottle retailed for $28,000 in the U.S.

I tend to be a fan of the peated single malts, but I enjoy most.

I prefer Bourbon Whisky, Tennessee Whisky, Irish Whiskey, and Scot’s Whisky in that order. Generally what I like is moderately priced.

And I do like Rebel Yell !!!!

My current favorite is Evan Williams bottled in bond 100 proof.

I don’t care for Jack Daniels, I like Dickle much better.

Admit it, most of you guys who claim not to like single malt scotch are just afraid of pronouncing the names :D

Laphroaig, Bruichladdich, Glenallachie, Bunnahabhain, Auchentoshan, Craigellachie, Kilchoman, Ardbeg Uigeadail and Corryvreckan, ...

Even in a liquor store, the most frequent question I get when I ask for a specific scotch is “The what?”

Easier to stick with Beam, or Jack, or George, ... ;)

I'm not fluent in Scott's Gaelic, but I can help with pronunciations if you're interested! :)

No need to be afraid.

Anyone who is a JD Guy owes it to himself to get a bottle of the JD Sinatra Select!! Yes, it's pricey but ohhhh so good!! I nurse the bottle for a year at a time. My Son knows that's my "standard" BD gift and that has been my BD gift from him every year for the last 4 years. :)

Started thinking it might be quite awhile before I'd be somewhere that would have it. Found online and it is on the way!
Apparently the laws are different for shipping wine vs. liquor.
1st 2 places I tried would only ship wine to Iowa, no liquor.

A couple of weeks ago my son called and asked me to check the local Binny's (chain out of Chicago) to see if they had a particular scotch and to buy him 2 bottles. When I checked out, the tab was $300.00.

Ardbeg Blaaack Committee Release | Drupal

Are you serious? Somebody sold you two bottles of this year’s Ardbeg Blaaack Committee release at regular retail? That’s insanely lucky. All over the country whisky geeks are on the hunt, and any price below $200 per bottle is considered a must-buy.
