Anyone Else Get Painful Cramps In Legs?

Magnesium and Potassium supplements usually help me. My cramps come and go. If I have them for more than one night, I'll do stretches where I point my toes forward as far as I can for 30 secs then point them back as far as I can for 30 secs. I'll repeat that 3 or 4 times. Then I'll do the runner stretches in order to stretch my calves out. The stretches with the supplements have always cleared it up for me.

Good thread, I take statins and get leg cramps. I use tums, have them by the bed. They relieve the cramp in about 5 minutes.

Some good ideas here which I will try. Last night I had a lot of cramps and want relief, Larry

Tonight my legs are so cramped I had to take an Oxicodone and then my care giver rubbed Capsaicin Cream on my legs. She does a great job and really rubs in it.
Takes about an hour before it starts working and most of the pain subsides afterwards.
It keeps me from sleeping so tonight I've had 3 cups of Sleepy Time Tea and I'm finally getting tired.

+1 on drinking water… many people are slightly dehydrated and are not aware of it. Your muscles are something like 79% water.

I’m 72 and hadn’t been in hospital since hatched back in 50. I started having leg pain and cramps and wrote it off to siadic nerve/ back problems.
Ended up emergency surgery, lower bypass. They said 24 hrs I would have had legs amputated, 48hrs I would have bit the big one.
Get to Doctor, I had plenty of signs that I was to dumb to realize. I had went to docs and started tests for back problems. Now getting better everyday. Side effect is getting fat. Starting to take care of that and am on
Statin drug.

This 75 year old dude takes a statin daily as prescribed by my doctor decades ago...My nightly leg cramps are reduced to a tolerable level since I started taking a 100 mg CoQ10 tablet nightly...Everyone's mileage will likely vary...:)...Ben

The Tums work relieving the arm & leg cramps. Have some bedside, in the truck, in her car and in the Shooting bag.

Just bought some CoQ10 2 days ago, the 200 mg. Giving it a try, the friend I drive to the range with uses it for leg cramps also. Supposed to be good for older people and heart health. Since I just got stents it will and will be on statins for a year, figured it will help. Seem to drink a lot of water since I get up multiple times a night to urinate, Larry

So far, eating a banana, taking a dose of quinine, putting magnesium concentrate in my water and taking 10MG of Prednisone every day has reaped great benefits!

Haven’t had a serious leg cramp or breathing problem in a couple of weeks. YAY!

Tonic Water

A time back I offered my cure for leg cramps.

In retrospect, I believe it was treated with skepticism, or ignored, in favor of more complicated, scientific, physical, or physician, prescribed cures & preventions.

Previously, I’ve never had a cramp in the muscles of my back. But last night, one hit me in the muscle just under my left shoulder blade. It was severe enough, to literally take my breath. Our son that was visiting our home, and knew my remedy, ran to the fridge, and brought me a juice glass of tonic water. After drinking it, “BINGO”!, the cramp was gone.

This absolutely confirms my faith in my cure for cramps.

There’ll always be a bottle of Tonic Water in our fridge.

I always took a small bottle of it in our car along with other necessities, when I was still driving.

'Nuff said. To each their own.
