Anyone else love single stack 9s ....

I carry a 3913 when I don't feel like dropping the 642 in a pocket. Being an old revolver shooter, I'd actually prefer a 3943.

For giggles I removed all the barrels for a group shot. With the exception of the Kimber they are almost all the same size.

S&W 39-2 (fits me perfect and this is the one I love to shoot)
CS9 (picked it up recently and it is now one of my favorite EDC)
Kel-Ted PF9(good carry when I am in summer garb, brutal to shoot on a regular basis, but I do like it)

During my career as a U.S. Customs Special Agent, I had the opportunity to be issued a 3953 as a concealed carry pistol. I LOVED that pistol. It was accurate, and for having a DAO trigger, it was smooth and had a decent trigger pull, and it was very accurate.

It was my daily carry pistol, and only left in the car if we were doing tactical operations, and I used my Glock 22. I carried the Glock 22 in a thigh rig, so concealment wasn't a concern.

I carried the 3953 until the entire agency went to the Glock 19 and 26.

Curious; why did the agency switch from .40 to 9?

I have a metal "double-stack" 9mm (Browning High Power) and it's a joy to carry, and shoot. Still, I have no problem with the "plastic" guns either - they have proven their reliability and durability in many different test AND duty applications.

I think you missed my point completely.
No one ever said plastic guns don't work.

I just prefer metal framed single stack 9s. Simply preference. Enjoy your High Power and Tupperware.

Nice guns just not my flavor.

How can anyone not love single stack 9's. Seems odd they're now all the rage - AGAIN - as they've been around for years. JOHNBTCB - that's a very nice collection! 3's and 4's . Need to add 908 and 908S and 457's! I carry a 908 daily and wouldn't trade it for any cool new plastic. The safety is never an issue, as it's always in the off (hot) position. As though there is none. I really don't uderstand the issue folks have with them. Long live single stack 9's,. At least the old ones

A 3913 is my usual EDC. However, I just bought a 639 that may get a lot of carry time.

Star Model B-German Police issue-S&W M639, 1943 Walther made P-38.
The latter fits my hand very well, points well and is pretty accurate for an elderly ex-POW.

I've always had a fondness for single-stack nines. I have a 39-2, 3913, 3914, and a Walther P5. The P5 is a bit odd in that it's pretty thick for a single-stack - but it shoots solidly straight and has a comfortingly overly-engineered quality to it.

The only single-stack 9 I have is a 3914 DA/SA that I adopted from the local home for abused firearms (also known as the "Big" local gun store with absurd prices on most of their product).

However, she came home and shoots/carries like a dream.

I'll be the anti-single stack 9 guy that probably will get flamed.....but I never understood single stack 9s, unless they are super small and replacing a .380 for pocket or super conceal carry. The beauty of the 9mm is the ability to carry more rounds in a package that is still fairly compact. If I'm going to carry a single stack gun, it's a .45acp all day long.

I'm not against the 9mm, I've owned a few, but all have been high capacity 9's, not single stacks.

Love single stacks...
Still have my original 39-2 (also a swap in Barstow barrel in 9X21)
A year or so ago I traded for another 39, turned out to be a 39 no dash (alloy) NIB.
When a 9mm Star BMK came my way, I figured it was fate.

Put me down on the side of the slim single stacks. While I've owned (and loved) some widebodies, my fingers feel better around the thinner gripped guns. I had a Star BKS (or maybe it was a BKM, 4 1/2" barrel, aluminum frame) that snuggled on the right hip and felt as good in the hand as any 9mm I ever handled. The only guns I can think feel as good are the CS9/3913 class of Smiths and a CZ52.
Of course, not all single stacks are created equally. Although I enjoy the Walther P1, it feels positively portly.
