Anyone install the Apex Shield trigger kit yet ?

Been out of town, so tomorrow I can finally install my kit. Watched the videos, printed the M&P Armorer's Manual.

Anyone do this yet ? Not sure in terms of the trigger spring replacement.

I replaced my trigger spring. The trigger was too light for me w/o replacing it. Id say im fairly happy w my apex trigger kit. I just wich it had more of a defined sear break

Just finished installing the kit. Great difference ! Worth the relatively small amount of money. Now I have to order one for my second Shield.

It's definitely worth the money. The toughest part was removing the rear sight to swap out the USB. Definitely recommend using a hairdryer or heat gun to heat up the slide.

Why, oh why did S&W design it such that you have to remove the rear sight to access this part? My first M&P and was baffled...

Installed the Apex trigger in my Shield a couple of weeks ago. Great improvement. Removing the rear sight was a pain. Screwed the sight up so had to send the slide out to have night sights installed. Darn.

Why does anybody do anything more than the Apex hard sear install? It dropped the trigger weight to about 5-3/4# and there is no grittiness in it at all. I have about 1000 dry fires and 1000 rounds through it.

I did the frame work first (because the dang rear sight was so hard to move !). After installation of the hard sear and new trigger return spring, I re-assembled to try it. Then finally got the rear sight off and changed the striker block and spring. Much smoother and better pull with the complete kit, at least in my opinion.

I actually swapped out the sear first then dry fired a few times. From there I decided it wasn't smooth enough, so I just finished up the job with the USB. To each his own, as they say.

In my M&P 9 Pro 5", the USB removed all the grit from the trigger. Left me with a trigger that breaks like a carrot.

I did mine a few months back and love it. I have no gunsnitthing experience, I just watched Randy's videos and some from U-tube. Used my Sears portable workbench, slide protected in a rag, drifted out the rear sight with a flat screw driver wrapped in painters tape, even changed the spring with out removing the entire trigger block. took about 2 hours. Theres an old post on this forum that Helped out with short cuts. saved 80$$. Learned a lot about the inner workings for sure. Shoots like a dream. Good luck
