Thanks a million, Sip.
I had a mild to moderate attack today after lunchtime. My entire intake so far today was a Coke, a pack of Lance Honey Peanut Butter Captain's Wafers around 10 AM, and a Boost Drink at 12 PM. The attack started up with diarrhea. A few minutes later, I had another bout and the itching began on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet. I walked into a co-worker's office, and she said that I looked red in the face and asked if I was OK. I told her that I thought I had an attack in the beginning phases and took 50 mg liquid Benedryl as per my doctor's orders. I decided to give the Benedryl 15 minutes to work and was sitting on ready with the Epi Pen. Within 5 minutes, I could tell a positive difference, and 15 minutes later, I was ok but a little drowsy. I wrote up the entire list of ingredients for everything I ate in a file on my iPad and called in the episode to the doctor's office. I took off a little early from work and went to my uncle's place to hang out for a while. I am beginning to have confidence in the ability of liquid Benedryl to act in a decisive manner against these attacks.
Funny thing is, I've been drinking the Boost for about a week now, and there have been no problems with it until now. I have been eating a pack of Lance Crackers each day as well, but I usually eat the orange crackers with peanut butter instead of these particular ones.
I'm pretty sure it isn't the peanut butter causing this, because I have been eating it all along. I think it is some barely pronouncable trace ingredient in these processed foods that's the cause. I hope I can identify it soon and learn to avoid it, whatever it is.....
