I've been using regular inhalers for about a year now. I have been using them once or twice a day. I saw a commercial on TV awhile back that was promoting a once a day use inhaler and was interested.

I'm a Marine Corps Viet Nam veteran that served from 1968 to 1970 and have a disability from that "conflict"/war. Anyway, I get my inhalers from the V.A. Since this virus has hit, I can't go to my closest V.A. hospital for visits so I scheduled a "phone visit" with my V.A. doctor.

She called me for a phone visit and we went through the regular stuff. After that, I asked if I could try these once a day inhalers? She said sure and prescribed me for a couple.

When the once a day inhaler arrived in the mail and I tried it, it was a Godsend! I still had to use my regular inhalers once in awhile but with the once a day inhaler I was breathing almost normal all day!

My wife has a friend that told her she once was a caregiver for old folks, (I'm a old folk at 72! 😄), and they used nebulizers for seniors with breathing problems and they worked great. She said for me to ask the V.A. if they could provide a nebulizer as it might work so well that I could give up my inhalers.

I emailed my doctor and asked if the V.A. could provide a nebulizer for me and she answered back that they could and would send one and the medicine used with them right out.

It arrived in about a week and I tried it out, following the instructions to a tee. Nothing! It didn't help with my breathing problems a whit! I tried it several more times and it still did nothing at all to help my breathing problems.

My go to is still my once a day and occasionally my regular inhalers and the nebulizer sits unused.

If you've read this thread this far, more power to you👌and sorry for my ramblings but are any of you using a nebulizer and does it work for you? Should I continue to keep trying it even though I've had no results at all using it?

Thanks for your patience and God bless.

Trying to avoid the large recurring price increases on my three inhalers, I noticed the formulations for nebulizer use were substantially cheaper, and asked my doctor if he'd switch the prescriptions. He declined, believing them not to be as effective.

Yup. I've got an Advair inhaler I use twice a day, an albuterol rescue inhaler I use as needed, and a nebulizer. I'm also taking Singulair. I haven't been using the nebulizer as much as I probably should, though. At my peak I was using it 2-3 times a day. Before I got the nebulizer, I would have to use my rescue inhaler 4+ times/day. I don't have to use my rescue inhaler nearly as much now, though I do use it more when I don't use my nebulizer.

For me, the nebulizer works longer than, but not as fast as, my rescue inhaler. I try to breathe deeply while using it, i.e., "belly breathing." It helps get the medication deeper into my lungs. It could be that you need to try different medication. Or it could just be that a nebulizer doesn't work for you. I've been using a CPAP for my sleep apnea for a few months now, and despite everyone telling me I should notice positive results pretty quick, I'm still struggling with difficulty sleeping and chronic fatigue. I've got an appointment with my sleep doctor coming up so I'll discuss my issues with him.

Definitely something to discuss with your doctor, in my opinion.
