Anyone with suppressor knowledge?

Are you subject to yearly BATF inspections for "owning a can" like you are for owning an auto? Or is it just pay the $200 to get checked out and you're good 2 go?

More internet lore about suppressors and NFA stuff - there is NO "yearly" inspection or forfeiture of rights to own anything NFA. Do the paperwork, get your stamped and approved form 4 and you are done. Some states require a MG register but that is no big deal either.

You are looking for a .22 can to go on a pistol so I would suggest a Tactical Innovations Stratus. Easy to balance on a small pistol and can even be used on a threaded .22 rifle. I have one and also have a Tactical Innovations Quest which is the same suppressor rated for FA fire. Difference is aluminum baffles verses steel baffles.

basicly you can shoot any caliber smaller(weeker) than what its intended for.. dont know if its recomended but it works we have fired half a million rounds threw a phantom 556 on a 22 .. the only prob. i can see with the ones you can take apart is that if your not careful you can cross thread them and your can is scrap(they use fine threads) or because its aluminum if you get carbon or trash in your threads they r easily gumed up.. and your can is scrap.. and depending on what you clean your can with you can make the surfaces more inclined to build carbon...(back to the disadvantages of and aluminum can)

22 and 223 cans are 1/2 X 28 threads - not real fine at all but you need to line up properly when you put it on.

ya its called intregal suppression.. and i offered to let you shoot a 10/22 that is done that way.. it looks like a bull barrel.. and some people make suppressors the same dia. as a bull barrel so they do hide..... as far as the batf coming .. they may never check you but they can at anytime.. to make sure you r storing it properly

NO - BATF cannot "check you" just because you have a suppressor and there is no legal requirement for storage, although you are required to make a report if it is lost or stolen.

Now no for not liking misinformation...

those may be common threads used on suppressors of that type it is not by any means the only way they are attached... other threads and "quick attach" methods are available and commonly used also.

BTW Ken I believe the comment on the fine threads was about the threaded main tube and the end caps used in the construction of the silencer itself and not the way it attaches to the gun. This was in relating to the can breaking down for cleaning and not attachment.

Hey ken if you buy a machinist book you can read it yourself 1/2-28 is extra fine threads according to the american standard...as far as the misinfo. Goes the only thing I mis spoke on was the atf coming to check a individual... where I got that was they can come check us once a year(class 2 weapons manuf.).. (thats were people get the "yearly inspection" from) The tax stamp is a sealed doc. And can only be view during a criminal investigation...sorry about the misinfo got to thinking about after I posted it last night and ment to change it this morning and was beat to it.. and we also have a TI FA rated can or should i say whats left of one... the rear of the can backed loose during FA fire and it had a baffle stike.. now it no longer has baffles... everyone has their favorite, pick 1 that fills your needs and made by a bigger name brand manuf. and youll be fine
