My daughter has turned 21 and soon she will be taking ccw training. She is also therefore in the market for a ccw weapon.
She has decided on semi-auto rather than a revolver (as mom and older sister chose revolver, 642 & LCR respectively).
She has zero problems racking my 1.0 shield, or my 3.6” 2.0 9c.
She does NOT like Glock the way it feels, nor the grip angle.
Other than these things, the field is WIDE OPEN as to what she will choose. And she will choose what SHE wants or prefers. It will be either 380 or 9mm.
I will not hesitate for her to check out the P365 along with the shield and shield EZ as well as all the other well established name brands in the same league for CCW weapons.
I think her first decision is whether or not she wants a manual safety. As some guns only have the manual safety (thinking Walther CCP) and maybe a few that only offer no manual safety.
After that it will be on how the gun feels and fits her. And then see if there is a olace to rent the few guns she has narrowed the choice down to the top three or so.
I love my 9c, except that fully loaded it is heavy but lime the capacity. I love my shield for it being so much lighter, but on fast reloads, for some reason, the pad of my plam just touches the bottom of the mag and provides juat enough resistance to not eject the mag reliably. I do not seem to have this issue with the 9c as the grip is nust a tad longer.
When I carry my shield I carry with the 7 round mag (with pinky extension) in the gun and the 8 round mag in mag pouch. I am strongly considering getting the magguts +2 extension for the 7 round mags I have. But the extensions cost is the same cost of nust buying new 8 round mags.
