Apex trigger kit and SD40 VE

A couple questions for you that are "in the know". I have a new SD40 VE. Several hundred rounds of reloads, factory FMJ, hollow points, without a single hiccup. Love the gun, but considering lightening the trigger pull. Are the roll pins used in the sear block and extractor able to be re-used after removal to install Apex trigger kit?
Is it necessary to use a roll pin punch for removal?

Yes they can be reused. You don't HAVE to use a roll pin punch, but I'd recommend it. The more times you take them out without one the more damaged they'll get.

You can get a set of roll pin punches for about $15 off E-bay. Well worth the money as you'll run into uses for them with many more models of gun.

I think I spent around $12 for the set I purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot specifically to complete the trigger project. Glad I didn't decide to try it without the right size punches.

Eric from Galloway told me about 2 weeks till they get the 3.5 kits in. That was Tuesday, so not long now.

I think putting a 3.5# trigger in a striker-fired carry gun is questionable from both a tactical and legal point of view, but I'm only a defensive pistol instructor, so what do I know?

For purely range use, that's another matter, but then why not get an M&P like all the other competitors?

I'm curious about it, thats about it, I want to try it, but I'm also the guy that wants to put an AEK in the SD40VE

I'm actually planning on competing with my SD40VE, not because I have to, I just want to see what my friends would say after I beat them all with it, after all I'm only a federal firearms instructor

Agreed. I installed the Apex and I'm very happy with it. I had a gunsmith measure the pull a few days ago. He did it 4-5 times and it averaged 5 lbs 14 oz. A noticeable improvement over stock. I only had about 500 rounds fired before I did the mod but a definite improvement my first time out with the new springs. I've put about another 500 on it since and no issues, very happy.

I would absolutely agree anything less than four pounds in a carry weapon is for expert shooters only plus the fact a stryker fired does not have a blocking mechanism and can discharge in a fall or other mishap

Striker fired pistols do have a plunger (blocking mechanism) that will prevent the striker from moving forward enough for the firing pin to protrude through the breech face until the trigger is pulled.

That blocker and it's effect of pushing the trigger bar towards the frame (sometimes bulging the frame a bit) has been discussed many times on this forum.
