Appleseed shooting

Sweet, thanks! I don't order from Cheaperthandirt. They're ignorant towards CA's gun laws so I don't give them m oney. They probably wouldn't let me order it if I tried.

I don't buy from them either. They have pretty good prices but their shipping in outrageous.

They are local to me, so never think about shipping. That part is probably available on Amazon though for same price or less.

I wish Midway had a 2nd shop in California for some reason :) Would loveeeee to wander around there for a while. Their shipping is high too (which means I have to order more) but they're very CA friendly so I love em!

One final note, a day or two before you actually go to an Appleseed event, take your rifle to the range, and fire at least 25 rounds through it with the ammo you're going to use for Appleseed, and DO NOT clean your rifle after shooting the 25 rounds. Your rifle will shoot more consistently if the barrel is seasoned to the ammo you'll be shooting.

You may also want to take that time to make sure your iron sights and scope are dialed in at 25 yards.

I really enjoyed reading your post about the appleseed shoot. I am heading to one at the end of the month in Toccoa Ga. I am looking for any info i can about what to expect for the weekend. thanks

There's time to confirm zeros. And, I hear, many folks have shown up with a rifle they have never shot before. But it would be a good idea
to have your rifle sighted-in before you go.
It's the same principle as sighting-in before deer season, eh?

If I hunted, I'd definitely sight in before haha. Makes sense. I just figured Appleseed brought a lot of beginners in so there would have been time to learn to sight in.

Don't they teach you how to sight in when your there?

I don't know if they do or not (I would assume so), but I've heard that things move pretty quick, and the more people they have, the faster things have to move in order to get in the full course of fire for everyone. You may not have a lot of time to adjust your gear before the shooting starts.

It's not real hard to sight in (or find out how), and the more familiar you are with your sights/optics, the easier it will be. A couple of weeks ago, I sighted in three optics on two rifles with fewer than 10 rounds of ammo.

The prudent shooter will be prepared for the event and be able to work on technique rather than worrying about having to zero sights/optics.

I know how to sight in but not very quickly.
