Can somebody please explain to me why every time I see a picture of some hot shot shooting an AR-15 it looks like he is reaching for the gas block while shooting the rifle???? I mean, is there supposed to be a purpose or reason behind what appears to be the uncomfortable stretching of the non-trigger hand/arm as far up the forend of the weapon as it will reach...by absolutley every photographed shooter of the AR-15 in competition?????

There isn't much 'mass' out in front of the usual AR ahead of the action assembly relative to other battle rifles. So, it has become the consensus of opinion among advanced battlefield tactical trainers that the AR class of rifles is better controlled for accurate and rapid followup shots if the shooter has a powerful grip right out at the gas block. Try some action shooting with your AR and you might just come to like it too. ...
