I can find a healthy assortment of brass and primers locally and on the web for what I reload. But, bullets and powder locally is a joke. My LGS has some IMR powders in stock, but nothing in the burn rates I need. Is it just me, or does anyone see this trend around them( only some components ). I'm just venting here abit.

That seems to be....

That seems to be the way it is. Some areas report some components available and other areas something else. We have been getting some powder here, but not Alliant. Jacketed bullets have been and continue to be scarce.

Ammo & components seem to be regional. I have primers out here, over priced but available, Not much powder. A lot of that is local fire codes here, small stores just don't want to hassle with it.

In my area pistol die sets are limited while rifle die sets are available in the more common calibers. Handgun powder is virtually non-existent. Cast lead handgun bullets are available at competitive prices. Jacketed pistol bullets are more limited in availability. Rifle bullets are available. LR primers are more available than SR primers. LP primers are more available than SP primers.

Stopped by a gun show this afternoon.Several vendors had lots of powder, primers, brass, bullets and ammo.Primers were around $30/k,powder was $25-30/lb.Even saw some bricks of golden bullets for $75!I had to flee as I was tempted by a pre 64 Win 94 in 32 spcl and my budget is blown :-/

That's my point, Brucev, around here, the only thing your going to find die wise is pistol or oddball rifle. And not alot of that.

Everything is available here in Texas. I wonder what the problem is where you are? I went to a gun show today near Austin, every kind of powder and component available from multiple vendors, same as last week. I got an email from a friend of mine in Ohio saying they could not buy .22 ammo - again no problem here.

Here in central Wa things are decent, picked up a few pounds of powder today for the AR and bullets and primers are easy to get.
Pistol and rifle powders each have a usable selection.

I think it has allot to do with the buying power of the store or the buying power of where the store gets their powders from.

A year ago when powder was really scarce I had no problem buy primers & powder from the fin, bought bullseye (2#), 2400 (2#), am select (4#) & powder pistol (4#).

The fin (fin fur & feather) has 3 locations with a buyer's base of 6mil+. When primers were still scarce this summer they were selling 100,000 a day every day for the week they were setup @ camp perry.

Some stores let it ride until hunting season or summer before they order in heavy amounts............

Reno is one of those areas..........pretty bleak this time of year
with Christmas gone............

Come on Spring !!

I think you are an exception

Some areas report more availability, yours is the first where I've heard everything is available. Many places report if .22 is available, it's way overpriced and still rationed. In SC here at least I've found a few pounds of powder the last few months. Believe me, I'm glad to hear that you have no supply problems, maybe that will spread out to the rest of us.

You friend in Ohio wasn't trying very hard. Just last Friday I was at Fin, Feather, & Fur in Ashland and they had plenty of CCI HV in stock. The only problem was that the 1 brick purchase limit on 22LR had been reinstated. Limit right now is 10 50 round boxes mix and match or one brick. Last October they had enough 22LR on hand that there was a 10 brick limit instead of 1. I suspect the reason why purchase limits that had been pretty much lifted being reinstated was due to holiday shoppers buying ammo for presents. If so, in another month or two those limits will probably have been relaxed or lifted completely.

I need to find other reloader's in my area. Get enough of us together and we could have swap meets. It's the only way I see getting the type of powder i'm after.

if you can order enough to make the haz mat charges viable, there are several places you can back order powder. anything to do with handgun or shotgun is hard to find now. primers are more available than they were 6 months ago. 6 wks ago I got my yearly order of federal pistol primers after having them ordered for about 6 or 7 wks. got 13 cases total.

Components are readily available in Ohio and if you're a shopper, can be had for no more than 10% pre-panic prices. Sportsman's Den in Shelby; Fin, Feather, and Fur (3 locations - Ashland is best); Vance's Outdoors (2 locations); Cabela's is pricier but has everything - all come to mind.

Even the little shop I work in (Aumiller's Westerville) has primers and bullets.

I won't speak to the kids complaining about availability of loaded 22 ammo - which seems to invade every conversation from firearms to football to Christmas cookies - since this is a reloading question in a reloading forum.;)

This pic is worse than porn:eek: I haven't seen pistol powder in quite a long time and am down to 12#. Do these people ship?

As one poster said - Buying Power is King. Many large dealers place orders far in advance to get quantity and extra discounts and those will be filled before smaller orders are filled. Few shops are direct with a vendor so one or two distributors get a cut off the top before it trickles down to the consumer. Panic buying drives up the price and drives down the availability. New Flash - they ain't gonna stop making this stuff so don't buy everything on the shelf... and the market will rebound on it's own.
