I wanted to buy one of these last year but there were so many posts on ejection problems so I did not get one. Seemed like either you got one and had no problems or they were bad out of the box. So are the bugs worked out now?

The problems, even if they were posted recently were from the older first runs of the rifle from around fall.. give or take from last year. And there are those rifle that are in that initial run of rifles with no problems to date as many members here have said. Even If you do get a older DT serial series.. If...not when it goes "bad" S&W will fix it free of charge to the latest specs.

Hope so, I should have come to this forum before buying mine. Now I see why I got mine at such a great price. Mine has serial # DTM7***... Have not fired it yet, but hope I don't have to send mine back...

Ejection problems? There haven't been any for over a year, you must be reading old messages where folks were bending the ejector.

Out of Battery firing is still an issue and is more a problem of the M16/AR15 trigger than the rifle. The trigger will release the sear long before the bolt is closed in this design. Not a problem with the 5.56mm weapons as their firing pin can't reach the primer until the bolt is fully rotated and into the carrier.

This sounds serious. So the gun can fire when the bolt closes?

I have tried repeatedly to have an OOB because of the AR fcg with no results. Mine runs as fast as you can pull the trigger, probably faster.

Out of curiosity (and due to my DTX**** numbered gun coming back yesterday after a repair) what exactly would have been changed? All the slip in the box said was "upgraded to current specs" and I'm curious.

Supposedly, one or more of the following: new version of the springs (blue springs), non-rotating extractor, and/or correctly machined bolt (apparently some were not machined properly).

I just went through my gun, it's got the blue springs now, and I can only assume the update to the extractor (it went back due to an OOB det, the extractor gaining escape velocity.) Bolt looks to be original, and they snuck in a new gen mag, although they were kind enough to swap out the bottom where I had it marked.

What exactly does the non-rotating quality of the extractor do for the gun?
