I think this comes under the heading of "Be careful what you wish for". Every terrorist event going back decades has been followed by wails of, "Why didn't the government do something to stop this? They must have known something was going to happen." You can trot it out in many languages.

For too many of the public and the politicians they elect, the fact that the government didn't know just cannot be. Today, it's as unacceptable as the concept of a Verizon not-spot. Yes, people in general are that dumb, and those in government will do everything to maintain their illusion of control. I'm just a little surprised that it has taken this long for a project like Tyr to break cover/be revealed.

Given the vast amount of information- and misinformation-on the Web, sifting through it, trying to separate the wheat from the chaff will be a Herculean task. We just had a posting on the Ghost Army in the ETO, there were the massive pre-D-Day deception operations. The Germans did something similar before the Ardennes offensive, the Red Chinese did a superb job in hiding their preparation for the Intervention in 1950. As did the Japanese before Pearl Harbor.
I see constant complaints of people seeing their guns posted as for sale by others, manipulation of images, etc.
"I saw it on the Web so it must be true !"

I've always been amazed that some people list their gun collection on their posts/profiles, along with pictures. Like a hunting trophy. Might be a ego thing, but when I see those lists I wonder if I'm supposed to be impressed, jealous, or remotely interested. What I have is nobody's business but mine, especially the corrupt government's.

I'm like the 100 year old being interviewed by a reporter.
Reporter: "You have saw many changes in your life."
100 year old: "Yep and I've objected to every one." Larry

...If advertisers can give you ads based on your interests just think what the REAL guys can do.

Malign foreign governments have legions of trolls employed to influence social media in Western nations, people whose job it is to spread disinformation, stir the pot, and disrupt societies. For the most part, they're well-trained and very good at what they do.

There has been a lot written about these foreign influence efforts, but unfortunately, many of us read or hear only what we want. We see a clever meme on social media attacking or supporting a given cause or candidate, and because it conforms to what we already believe, we share it without ever asking ourselves who created it or whether the information it contains is true. It's insidious and destructive...exactly as intended.

The Rand Corporation has created a number of well-researched papers on this phenomenon...below is a link to just one of them.
