Armed

Mr.O,
What part of Fl.do you live in??You don't live in Miami, Opa Locka or cities nearby!! I've lived in Fl.for over 60yrs & just wonder where you live!
Yeah...I go armed & have been doing that for a looooong time!

Got say yes on this too 56 years on the clock here in Sunshine State and don't know of any where thats crime free here or any where else. Standing By.

Around the house and yard, most of the time.

Around town, yes.

To and from work, well lately not so much though I dearly want to. My employer forbids it in the building and as of late management has access to an old airport x-ray machine on site and have been known to use it so sneaking isn't an option.

Snowbird country - you couldn't get me to go to Miami to even go on a cruise. Only time I go to Orlando is to pick up a visitor from the airport. My nice little town/city has some crime - they all do - but that area is almost 40 minutes from me.
This time of year, my windows are open 24/7; when home, the doors are as well (the cat loves being able to freely go to the birdcage pool) or the screened in front porch.

I couldn't carry a big gun around the house as I wear those gym/basketball type shorts....

Been in several other areas of the country where I have lived that is in the same situation. I prefer to NOT live in a high crime area or live in fear. If I can't sit in my living room or mow my room without wearing a gun, I am moving post haste.

Sounds like you need to find another place to live.

Why would you put up with that ****?

Bowling Green, KY is a pretty nice place and Senator Rand Paul was assaulted while mowing his lawn, suffering GBI (great bodily injury).

I bought a Glock so I can carry in the shower, cuz Ya just never know. :D

There's a poll around here somewhere. I think the number was less than half. My guess is that probably a fair mount of folks fudged on 'always'. Most of the guys I know at the club who have permits don't carry a gun much other than in the car which doesn't require a permit anymore.

Possibly this thread?

When I first got my permit I decided that I was either always going to carry or I was never going to carry. I have decided that I will carry in every place I am legally allowed to do so.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a gathering of the security team for my church, you would think if anyone is going to be armed it would be them right? Nope there were maybe three people there who were armed. It surprises me to run into “gun” people that only carry when they “think they might need it” or only when they’re out after dark or some other such rationale.

My question is excepting places where you may not legally carry a firearm what percentage of the time do you carry?

Out of 203 people who responded to the poll 99 (48.77%) said they carried all the time.

I posted a similar poll on THR and got a response within just a few percentage points

Out and about in the "Burb of the Burgh"............. +95%
At the Cabin (outside).................. pretty much 100%

"Inside" either 40-50%....... I rely on my "stashed" guns for the other 50%

On the road 100% where legal

I think the difference is what people consider "always". Not many things fall under "always". Usually it's "most of the time"!

Not counting places where I can't carry by law ...I carry 100% when I leave the house to go somewhere. Work, friends, milk, walking the dog .... doesn't matter. However, when I'm home I don't. This includes going to the mailbox. I don't see a need for it. I have a higher chance of getting run over by a soccer mom in her new Porsche SUV than I do of being attacked or mugged.

I expect that people that carry are much more likely to respond to the thread than those that don’t carry. There may be sampling bias, I suspect that the numbers would not hold up, regarding forum members as a whole.

I have a firearm while in the house that can be accessed very quickly(about 15 sec. from anywhere inside). If the door bell rings,it is usually with me. Motion sensing lights on all four sides of house. When outside on property doing work(landscaping, moving, snowblowing etc.)I carry my cell phone and a firearm in a fannypack. When going out at night, always armed. At other times it depends on where and what I am doing. With my life style a firearm is available 80% of the time. Be safe.

Live in a pretty trouble free area? I never carry around the house or in the yard.
I do have something handy though.
When I leave for parts unknown then I have my LCP is in the pocket!

I work on a military installation, so I can't carry. BUT I live 1.12 miles from the gate, so it's not a long commute (I walk) without a pistol. Anyplace else, including the home, I am armed 100%.

I carry when legal. In MA that means I don't get to walk around the house in my underwear unless I lock up the gun or carry it in my hand.

Why would you lock it up, you could have the gun on the table next to you, if had underwear or not. In Ma,do you have to be wearing it, if it is not in the safe? Just curious?? Be Safe,

There are times and places where I carry because I feel it’s a prudent thing to do.

But most of the time, I carry as a matter of principle, because I can and because it’s my right to do so.

If I lived in a place where I was afraid to walk around my house, go to the mailbox or to take the garbage out without carrying a gun, I’d be moving.
