Attitudes during hard times

Well that's ok. Who can say my words and intent were completely understood by everyone? Language is a very complex skill that requires the same to the persons on the other end.

Just fry 'em with onions in bacon grease Caje!
Never heard the CDC say something fried in pig juice would kill ya'? Now as to have'n your hide fall off?
Aren't folks payin' thousands for that to be done with a laser and body grinder anymore?

Revolverman
It did get ugly. For a group of people who share so much in common, we seem to let small issues lead to hard feelings and things said that can't be taken back. For what?

The first humans to reach the Geographic South Pole were Norwegian Roald Amundsen and his party on December 14, 1911. Amundsen named his camp Polheim and the entire plateau surrounding the Pole Kong Haakon VII Vidde in honour of King Haakon VII of Norway. Robert Falcon Scott had also returned to Antarctica with his second expedition, the Terra Nova Expedition, in a race against Amundsen to the Pole. Scott and four other men reached the South Pole on January 17, 1912, thirty-four days after Amundsen. On the return trip, Scott and his four companions all died of starvation and extreme cold.

A book I read approximately thirty years ago about the above mentioned exploration stated that Amundsen ran out of food and ate his dog team. Even though he had been told by Eskimo on other expeditions that you should not eat dog liver he did not heed their warnings. The liver was the most tender and he ate it only to discover that the soles of his feet fell off. He taped his feet and continued on. He also lost flesh on his hands and arms. It wasn't until the "50's" that medical science discovered the cause and that was an overdose of vitamin A

Tough times tend to make me much more focused on what is really important. I think maybe the country needs a dose of that. From the President all the way down to the neighbor lady with the dog she treats like a kid; the shallowness and immaturity of people these days just aggravates me. Maybe we need a reality check. If that's the case, I don't think this is tough enough yet. If the neighbor lady has to eat that yappy little dog, maybe her, and our, priorities will straighten out some. Well, perhaps it doesn't have to get that bad, but you know what I mean.

Now that is good to know!

I was half joking when I made the above statement, though my weiner dog is named Lucky Taco. I don't actually anticipate things getting that bad in my lifetime, but they might. If they do, all but the most well trained dogs will be good for three things:

1. Giving away your position when you are trying to hide.

2. Scaring of game.

3. Eating some of what little food you might have.

If I was to starve to death rather than chomp Lucky Taco (with the exception of his liver, of course), it would only accomplish two things.

1. Lucky Taco would get fat eating me.

2. One of you guys would get fat eating Lucky Taco (at a time when he would be stuffed full of cholesterol from eating me).

That being the case, if times get that lean, Lucky Taco had best make himself scarce.

I was talking to my best freind the other day about how people in the community don't smile like they used to and seem like they are angrier than normal. I think it is becasue of the economy and the fact that government is out of control and they feel helpless in this one party system we now live in.

I'm beginning to think it's due to too much vitamin A? I gotta' get half soles done on these Red Wings?
