Yup,

No more autozone for me or the ranch.

I'm a mind to tell everyone I know and cross the road to tell someone I don't know of this atrocity....

We don't need to tolerate this kind of abuse of a young veterans and family men.

That auto parts place may continue on, but it won't be getting any help from me or my kind.

Su Amigo,
Dave

Anyone got their email address?

Guy didn't have the gun with him in the store ran to his truck to retrieve it to stop robbery and they fired him anyhow. Wonder what they would have done to me if I was standing there and pulled my legal CCW and stopped the robery barre me from the store? OK I know liability problem for employee but wjo knows what would have happened to the manager after the robbery or if he couldn't get the safe open. Criminals today know with no witness they have a better chance to get away.

I just sent this email to their contact us info will see if they get back to me. Feel free to modify and use if you wish.

"I just read the new story about Devin McLean of your AutoZone in York County, Va. You should be proud of this man as he could have saved his and his managers life. Who knows what would have happened to either if the manager could not get the safe open or after this criminal had gotten what he wanted. Criminals know they have a much greater chance of getting away with no witness. They also know about surveillance cameras and to try to take or destroy the recordings. But instead you fired the man for protecting his manager, It is probably store policy but that does not make it correct. VA is a CCW state but Mr. McLean was not even carrying his legally owned firearm, as per news story he went to his truck to retrieve his weapon. He could have called and waited for the police to show but it could have been too late for the manager. Lucky on their part the criminal departed after seeing he was being confronted and no violence took place. I am a licensed CCW and would have protected myself and others as law describes so I guess you would stop me from shopping at your facility? Mr. McLean should have been praised not fired. As with other establishments in this country if not being able to protect myself there I will shop else where I do not deal where no firearm signs are posted or where one is not allowed to protect themselves or others in danger."

I won't darken their doors with my money for auto parts
again. Rest assured of that.
Sending off a letter right now.
Another company wanting to turn everybody into sheep
waiting for a slaughter.

I just called the phone number above. It is a recording, you put your zip code in and they give you the number of your regional store. I called the store in Houston, Tx. and explained to the really nice lady that I would no longer be shopping there. She said I was the first to notify her of this and was somewhat taken aback. I gave her my name, and phone # asking for a member of management to contact me. If there is no contact I asked "if she believed in miracles." To which she replied "yes". I said "it will be a miracle if you ever see me in one of your stores with this policy and no contact from upper management."

Let's ratchet it up boys, time is getting short.

Almost every single retell store in America have a policy like this. The only times I have a gun at work is when I am working for my much smaller company where my bosses can care less if I have a gun or not.

^^^This. If ya want to boycott every store that has a "no guns" policy you're gonna be living a Spartan lifestyle.;)

I don't know. It's looking like I may have to go back to running a cash register. These days I might have a hard time working alone in a convenience store at night. I came very, VERY close to not going home one morning when I was working graveyards in North Phoenix. Only thing that saved me was the arrival of some customers. Most of my customers were armed... ;)

I'm kinda on the fence with this one.

Can you imagine what their insurance company would say?

And we all know that there are some among us that carry guns and shouldn't. You know, the people that think that because they have a gun they're ready for the world? Or the people that think that training and practice is a waste of time? Or the people that buy a gun, stuff it in a holster and carry it without ever shooting it?

I understand the right to protect yourself anywhere, anytime but if I were a business owner I would have to think about this one long and hard.

I do carry at work with the owners approval. But there are a few others that work there that are not approved.

I've known a couple of people who worked for them over the years and they are generally sucky to work for. This doesn't surprise me as they've probably done the math and it's cheaper to pay out on worker's comp for a dead employee than risk a law suit.

I try not to shop there unless there is no other alternative. Then again, I'd bet that most of the other auto parts chains have similar policies.

I used to seldom shop at Auto Zone.

Now I will never shop at Auto Zone.

To hell with Auto Zone now. Corporate policy my ***.

I was infuriated at the way I was treated at an Auto Zone a couple of years ago, so haven't shopped there since.

This was a racial issue, so I can't discuss it here, but it left me plenty mad.

But I would hesitate to shop at 7-11, too, because I gather that they fire employees who have to shoot robbers.

Someone posted above that stores like this know they are at high risk for crimes and don't care if employees or customers are killed, as long as they don't get sued. The same is true of most businesses that hire unarmed guards.

I think it's a danged shame that McLean didn't kill the robber, who is suspected of about 30 prior holdups. But it was good to see the sheriff support him.

find them on facebook and add your two cents to their public forum...i will be...the public black eye looks worse than the private one that no one gets to see and it also reaches out to those who may not see the story...
