I was just wondering how many rounds you put down range on your average trip out? In the cooler months I've been making it to the range about every two weeks, in the hotter months maybe once a month.

I usually shoot:
100 to 150 rounds of 9mm
20-50 rounds of .45 (it's been having so issues over the last year)
easily 150+ rounds of .22
100-150 rounds of 5.56 (more if I put the Bump-fire on)

Am I nuts or do you all shoot just as much?

I've been shooting muzzleloaders almost exclusively for more than three years and usually shoot three to four days a week and usually try to get in at least 30 shots a day, or 6-five shot groups at any particular range, usually 25 one day, 50 or 100 the next. We have a tendency to shoot more at 50 and 100 on a daily basis especially during nice weather. In the winter the indoor range is heated and limited to 25 yards, thats usually when we put in the serious off hand practice. That 3" bull is really small at 25 yards. Round that off to 30 a day times 4 for 120 rounds per week, 52 weeks a year that comes to 6240 rounds per year, give or take a few hundred. I know I went through over 100 lbs of lead last year and at least a case and half of blackpowder over 30lbs easy, I buy my caps by the case (1000) I just smelted down over 150 lbs of sheet lead a couple of weekends ago and cast it into 2.5-3lb ingots, I feel alot better now...I was getting down into my reserve of 200lbs.
Blackpowder has been a great thing to get back into after retirement, I like the whole aspect, even cleaning the pistol or rifle is after all "my time". Casting balls and bullets, smelting lead from sheet, cutting patches, working on the rifles or pistols, its all very enjoyable stuff to do and it even keeps me out of the bars.
I've recently gotten back into large bore centerfire pistol with an old Brazilian contract 1917, I am casting bullets for it as well and try to shoot it a couple of times a week.
I've got a buddy that shoots at least five days a week with his old muzzleloader, you can never count him out in competition.

When I take out my Hammerli free pistol I nonally don't shoot more than about 30 rounds of 22 LR. More than that and I'm getting the shakes so bad I can't hit anything.

I shoot at least once a month, usually after my shift as a volunteer Range Officer at an indoor range. I normally shoot a 50 round box of .380, .38 spec., & 40 s&w.

Have a remington varmint synthetic with the grey stock that has had 1300 documented rounds through it. And a sako 75 hunter that has had 1100 rounds down the tube. Usually only shoot the same amount of rounds out each time I go shoot. And log it in my handloading notes. As far as handguns or shotguns are concerned I do not keep track of how many rounds fired. Frank

i try to hit the range at least monthly; would love to go more often just seems life keeps me busy.

But i run each visit about the same, anywhere between 100-200 rounds with my MP 9's, then finish usually with 150-300 rounds with my Buckmark .22 (the round count can vary if the wife joins me for some range time). The time spent on the 9 is for both practice and fun; the 22 is pure play time......
I dont worry too much about the cost of the ammo, as this is one of my main hobbies, something I truly enjoy doing.

I actually keep track of what i shoot, not for any reload needs just more out of curiosity. Well that, and it seems working on spreadsheets 10 hours a day isnt enough so i have to do it on my free time.

;)

The outdoor gun club here only costs $50 a year for us over 65, and that's unlimited usage so I go at least once a week. I generally take a couple of 9mms, 2 45 acp's, a 38 spec and a 22. Usually shoot 200-400 rounds. I'm a piker compared to some here. If I didn't reload I couldn't afford to shoot this often.

I probably have similar spreadsheet addiction LOL until my other computer crashed, I had logged the number of rounds thru my pistol and had a list of which guns I had shot, what I thought of them and if I'd like to add it to my collection at some point.

I was able to recover the spreadsheet with the track times and avg RT's from taking my truck and car to the local 1/8th mile strip..That's the one that I was really worried about losing. (Another expensive hobby too)

With my recent relocation , finishing an out of town contract and getting a new puppy I haven't been to the range in a month and a half !
Usually this time of year I shoot twice a week once on a weekday after work and once on the weekend , usually 150-200 rounds of 38spl for CAS practice and 100 or so lighter 44 mag and a handful of "bear loads";-)
Double that if someone wants to play with he duelling tree
Oh yes often a handful of 22lr in my mod 17 its a good confidence booster
So short answer ? A few hunnert anyways;-)

I've had to give up .45 for arthritis. But in general, it is 100 rounds either .45 or 9mm, then 150-200 rounds of .22 if a semi-auto, 50 for the revolver.

Usually just 2 firearms per trip, since I clean everything after each session. More if I have guests.

If I drag out the .357, the session ends when the pain hits a ten. Rarely more than 30 rounds. But that is maybe twice a year.

No way to tell. It depends on what I am working on. Yesterday I went to the range to chronograph some new 12 Ga. loads (I ran out of my favorite E3, and could only find some Accurate Nitro 100NF powder). I did find that the factory recommended #26 bushing (for 1200 fps with a 1 Oz.) isn't close. I had to use a #28 bushing to get within .1 gr. It does meter very consistent through my MEC 9000 and patterns excellently. After taking care of that I did shoot 15 rounds through my Shield 9mm, as I can't go to the range without shooting a handgun. There are other times I will shoot between 50 to 150 rounds, of various calibers. My close range is just 10 minutes from my house.

My favorite is to take my Remington 40XB .22. I can leave the range after 50 shots and feel fully gratified. When you use a single shot, you appreciate each shot much more. During Summer in Texas, I shoot until the sweat keeps running into my eyes, then it's time to pack up the truck and boogie on the A/C.

It's not worth the trip unless I burn at least 100 rounds through my S&Ws. I try to go at least once a week.

My outdoor club is an 80-mile round trip, but it's only $90 annually and the facilities are awesome. I went Monday evening and just about had the whole place to myself. I usually only go to test loads, shoot the long guns, handguns over 25 yards, or if my son decides to go with me.

There's a public indoor 10 minutes down the road where I go for handgun practice. Their pistol range goes to 25 yards, they allow lead boolits, & only $13 per visit.

Thinking of joining another club closer to home. It's also about $100 annually but huge initiation fees.

The Fort Worth Trap & Skeet club is about 3 miles down the road from me, but $400 annually per person is a bit prohibitive unless my son gets serious about clay shooting. It's not lookin good so far: he still hasn't shot the 20-gauge O/U I bought him last Christmas. I might join, anyway. I'll have to start loading shot shells again.

I could not begin to guess. I am lucky enough to have two ranges on my property. Right off my driveway is my handgun plinking range. Sometimes when I am coming home, I will stop near the range and fire whatever rounds I am carrying in my current carry gun.

So sometimes, my "trip to the range" consists of just five rounds fired....

..... Since I do shoot very often, if I had to give a rough estimate I would say 50 rounds. I will just grab a box and walk to the range.

I shoot at least 6 competitive matches per month which uses 50 to 100 rounds per match. Personal range time is usually load testing, function check and sight in.

This Monday, I took two 1911s chambered for .38 Super to the range and ran a 120 rounds through each. The primary objective was testing every magazine in each gun. Secondarily, I was breaking in a new barrel in one of the guns.

I never go to the range and just blast as many rounds as I can down range as fast as I can. This activity is very common at our range with ARs and .22LR rifles and speaks to ammo shortages.

An average weekend range trip is about 150 rounds of .357 and/or .38.

About 100-150 rounds of .22 LR through both pistols and rifles.

And between 20 and 50 rounds of centerfire rifle - caliber and amount depending on what rifle I bring along that day.

An average weekday trip is normally pistol only with 100-200 rounds of .45 ACP, 9mm, .380 ACP, .32 ACP, .38 Special or .45 Colt, depending on what I want to play with that day.

I usually do one trip each, each week.

Depends on where I go and what I'm doing that day. But it's usually 15 rounds with whatever handgun I use, whether rimfire or centerfire. If wheelgun, I skip load.

15-22, one 25 rd. mag, offhand/sitting/close in, mostly on the timer. AR types, usually one 18 rd. mag. Frugality is a factor, but even when my ammo was free I didn't carpet the ground with brass. If I'm really concentrating, it's enough of a workout. After that the edge goes.

The monsoons are over so I've been getting out almost every day lately. Tough, but somebody's got to do it...
