AWB dead

Good news. Still, I wouldnt celebrate just yet. Politicians are a sly and crafty bunch. Underhanded back room double dealing is an unfortunate reality of todays government. I await further development with jaded optimism but good news none the less.

I knew Harry wouldn't touch that bill with a ten foot pole. These leaders of ours always take care of their own interests first, in this case we all benefit.

You folks are well ahead of me, I tried to post this here, hahahahahahaha

Good news for now!!!

Regarding the AWB, don't ever pop the champagne. We're just one more mass shooting away from congress changing its mind on this issue. Note what almost happened at UCF in Florida with that student planning such an event. No, the AWB is not dead, just dormant waiting for an excuse to come back to life. Like it or not, living with uncertainty (regarding gun laws) is the new normal.

They never give up. Please remember that. Even more dangerous, this will be part of a "bait and switch" routine where they cry about the AWB to your face and then slip a knife in your back with something else. Most likely a magazine capacity limit.

Now is the time to remember who started and pushed for the awb and remember who stood with us and who stood against us and vote vote vote if they are not for our 2nd amendment rights don't vote them back in . Now is the time to try and get legislation to further protect our 2nd amendment rights. Keep writing and calling all of our politicians and let them know that we want our 2nd amendment rights protected and if they can't do it we will vote someone in who will .

I do know that next election....I will personally talk to each canidate and ask them how they stand on the Constitution and specifically...the second amendment and what their understanding of "Not to be Infringed" and see it they understand what that means. I do not care if they are Republican or Democrat or Independent...that is the first screeing test for me....after that...I will look at balancing a budget like I have to and not spend beyond "Our" means. We need to question everyone that is now in office (I have been) and get a solid answer out of them on where they stand. So far, I have one politicion that will not answer where they stand on AR-15's and high capacity magazines...just said he supports the second amendment. If they can not commit to what they really believe in...they are against the second amendment....leaving us with sling shots is not supporting the spirit or intent of Article 2 of the Bill of Rights. We need to bail out this boat next election. It is our own fault that we are in the position we are in today and I am as guilty as everyone else. I need to do a better job of researching who is running and what they believe to be true. We also need to push our own Canidates for office to get people in that truely support and defend the constitution and mean what they say. We need to be forever vigilent.....The transparency of this administration is just now becoming crystal clear and we are only one mass shooting away from the next attack on our freedom. The dance is not over yet and we need to tidy up what has been started so that at least the next generation understands that the People expect elected officals to support and Defend the Constitution of the Republic. We can accept no less. Guns are our liberty teeth and we need to be as well armed as anyone that thinks they can take them away. We are in a good position, we have the numbers...all we need is the will and courage to support the Constitution just as many patriots before us have. No price is too high to pay for our Freedom and they need to know that we will pay any price to preserve the Constitution and our freedom. As they say in NH. "Live Free or Die" My Motto will be "Live Free or Fight Like Hell" We will never surrender our Freedom or our guns...I hope the government gets it right.

I hope we can all attend ralleys at our state house when unconstitutional bills are being proposed that infringe on our freedom and let our voices be heard. It is only by letting our elected officals know that we will not accept any infringement on our Bill of Rights that we can make a difference, being passive is the same thing as giving them free rein to do what every "they want" instead of holding their feet to the fire. Our elected officals need to know that they will answer to "the People" for their actions and we expect them to honor the Oath of Office. We all need to become active in defending or rights....or lose them.

Great news. Yipee.... Ok, celebration over. Watch Harry with a laser like focus because he is up to something, count on it.

Several hundred other bills are percolating up the various local, state and federal political landscapes so now is not the time to do anything but move on to the next front (and keep looking over our shoulder). As someone eloquently stated, it isn't dead it is dormant.

I do hope that our illustrious politicians hold the line. Any small compromise will only embolden and encourage. No to all of it with the current crop of Pols in DC. As Nancy Reagan perfectly put it....Just say NO.

The federal Government does not have the power or Authority to over ride the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. I do not think some people even read the Constitution or understand the limits it places on the Government. As long as our Sheriff's and law enforcement officers understand the Constitution and Bill of Rights, it does not matter if Washington gets it or not. Some elected officals...Finestein comes to mind,....need to get educated because they are wasting their time on something that they do not have the authority to enforce. They need to be educated or removed from office. Many local Sheriffs understand what the constitution says and many are saying they will arrest and fereral agent that tries to enforce any unconstitutional law in their area of jurstiction. Not to be Infringed was written into the bill of rights by James Madison for just the purpose that is happening right now with the Federal Government trying to overstep their authority. We have the power to stop them cold. The states are not powerless and they are also guided by the constitution. Bottom line...is "We the People" will not have any unconstitutional laws imposed on us and they do not have the power to take our arms from us, we are Home Land security and the defenders of our Constitutional rights....along with the Sheriffs and our local law enforcement.

Our sweetheart Mrs. Feinstein couldn't get her own way on National stage, now she will direct her fury towards her beloved state's residents.

Oh God!!!

:(

Before this is over you are going to see people getting educated about what the Constitution is, and the powers it gives to the federal and State Governments and the limitations of the power the Federal Government has. The president is not the center of Power for the United States..."The People" hold the power and the Federal Government needs to be reined in by the people. I do not know how many are familar with the Constitution ...but take a look at Sheriff Mack and what he has done and is doing and what is being done at the Local Level to rein in the Federal Government. The Power come from the people and the Constitution Limits the federal Governments Power. What happens is up to us...not elected officals that think power and control over us is unlimited....they do not have unlimited power over us...they serve us not the other way around.

We must not lose our vigilance, during the pass of FOPA (Firearm Owners' Protection Act), some congressman from NJ inserted the Hughes amendment, so no more automatic weapon can be produced for civilians since 1986.

I agree 100% that we should maintain vigilance. Yes, things look good right now and hopefully there will not be a new AWB.

Let's move forward cautiously.

Its far from over. Ms. FS is still trying to make a deal to have AWB attached as an amendment. Sorry Capt. Jim... hope enough folks are tired of her by next election.

Good news for now but I also agree it isn't over. We are only one more mass shooting tragedy away from this regaining all the momentum that it currently seems to be losing.

Now can I PLEASE buy some ammo??

All hail to Dorothy. The Wicked Old Witch is finally dead!

One of the things I worry about is corruption of Judges that are appointed. If they have honor and integrity...or are they loyal to the man that appointed them?
James Madison wrote Article 2 of the Bill of rights to protect us from a corrupt government....not to be regulated by them and "Not to be Infringed" was to protect the people from the government. It is written simply and I do not see how it can be interpeted any other way. there has been enough corruption in Government so many people have lost faith in their integrity and believe little of what they say.
Defending our rights may come down to Sheriffs and LE honoring their Oaths (I am not sure what Oath leo's take) to defend the Constitution ......but I know I will never surrender my firearms or my freedom and if the Government is willing to kill me to get them.....thats what it will take....and thats a government that needs to be checked.
It is going to take people standing up for what they believe in and having the courage to stand against having our rights trampled by elected officals that have lost their moral compass, integrity, and serving themselves instead of following the oath they took and serving the people that elected them.
History has shown us what can happen in places like Sierra Leon, Cambodia and many other places. Many think...that can never happen here in the Good Ol USA....but I believe that it can...and it only takes us doing nothing to see that happen.
When I look at Afghanistan...I see villages that are disarmed and the Taliban can come in and do what ever they want because the people do not have the means to resist them....and many Politicions here would like to put us in the same position. We can not let this stand. I am doing what i can to organize with others and contact our Sheriffs and police and see where they stand so we will know who is with us and who is not. We also do have some honest politicions that do "get it" and see the Constitution and Bill of Rights for what they are. I believe that it is going to take "We the People" to defend our rights if our elected politicions try to overstep the Constitution....The Second Amendment is pretty simple to understand and "Not to be Infringed" is easy to understand. Because not to be infringed is a protection from corrupt government...I do not accept any "Government" interpertation of that...it was cleary defined and needs no interpertation from the source it was ment to protect us from.
Thank you for pointing out the interpetations the govt has of the first amendment. I am trying to learn as much as I can about something I should have known a long time ago. I hope we will teach the constitution and what it stands for in schools as it is so important to out freedom and we need to be vigilent....forever. we will see an attack on our semi automatic rifles again and soon.

The Democrats awakened to political reality, it was a no-win for them, in the Senate and at the ballot box.. but I am sure they will be back.

Well said everyone. Sad to say, but I didn't retain a whole lot of what was lectured in college back in the 70's, but one thing has stuck in my head after all these years was a comment by an economics prof who said the government in Texas would never have a chance of being led by anything other than the party that begins with the letter D. Not to be political, but now years later we see how wrong this fellow was. That said, it doesn't matter who is in office the debt goes up, spending increases, nothing gets cut (except our freedom and liberties) and the freebies still flow no matter state or federal. The most bothersome thing to me is $16.7 trillion in debt and $220 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Folks that is alot of geetus and a man would have to pick up alot of empty cans to pay that off. Eventually somebody will want those debts paid and then what? The solution is going to be ugly and the can has been kicked down the road, through the pasture and off the cliff. Any way I look at it my kids and grandkids future is bleak in my opinion. This didn't happen in the last 5 years, or 15 years or 20 years. Where the heck has the outrage been for the last 30 years. Now even Texas is turning purple with people pouring in here by the thousands bringing their backward ideology with them. As long as the choice is a lesser of 2 evils, then good folks will continue to tune out. It's not politics, it's dollars and cents/sense. I hope I'm wrong on this one but I just don't have any confidence the good 'ol USA can pull it off and I'm to dang old to learn any foreign language. God bless us all. Over and out.

I did not read all the responses and it may have already been said but if they pass the gun bill they can add the AWB as an amendment later on. It is by no means dead.
