Bacon

I love bacon but do eat it in moderation as all things should be. We bought half a pig a couple months ago and processor does a good job on the bacon. We just finished up the bacon and chops from the last pig and I think this new one is even better. Glad too tomatoes are now in season as we love BLTs too but not with hot house tomatoes.
We get our pig and beef from a local farmer that doesn't use chemicals and grows his own grain. Cost is probably less than the supermarket and better for us too. Only real downside is we have to run a generator in power failures just to save our investment.

A picture is worth a thousand words. :D

This has me salivating...

I have no doubt that someday soon we will be told that bacon is one of the best foods you can eat. I prefer to eat it in moderation, no more than three times daily. If you eat bacon, balanced by lettuce and tomato, and moisturized with mayo, then you know you have eaten a real sandwich.

Coming from England it's rather interesting (in a gruesome way) to see what the US considers "bacon". Most here seem to prefer what I would call "streaky bacon", i.e., 50% or more fat. Even before the health thing got going, consumers of streaky bacon were viewed as a bit odd in England.
Well, people from England who go all a tizzy over a tin of spotted dick are viewed a bit odd over here in the colonies :D :p
