saw that in the Rifleman. I've always preferred warm furry beaver over cheap imitations. Just checked the site and I'm a gonna need to hit a big case to afford anything other than the hat and slippers :D

Cajun, you can represent me if I get a yen for one of those blankets.
I am sure the defense for robbing a bank is quite expensive.

WOW! Even the muskrat stuff costs a bunch. I used to get $5 (from Sears) for a top notch muskrat pelt. Time has charged right by me.
That was more than a few years ago, I used to sell my pelt's to Sears also.

With those prices it seems to me we all should start trapping beaver and selling the pelts.

Don

I have. You can have mine. They are not hard to trap except for dealing with the ice cold water. Skinning them sucks. You can get fast at it, but think about skinning something that has about 4 quarts of good oil in it. Last year a good pelt sold for about $15.

This would be an easy thread to get banned for a few days.

A beaver or seal skin hat is one of the best investments you can make when working in Alaska. Many times I was outside in temps ranging from 0 to -70 and my head would get soaking wet. They actually work too good if you are doing any kind of physical activity, like wrestling a drunk or getting your snow machine or patrol vehicle unstuck.
Always thought I looked like Tina Turner when wearing my beaver hat.
Nonetheless $5K will buy a lot of down comforters.
