I picked up a Model 36 a few weeks ago at the local pawn shop for $280. The bluing was bad on one side from sitting in a foam lined box. I figured it would make a good project gun to try the Duracoat Firearm Finish on. I also polished the hammer and the trigger. I think it turned out great. Im posting a few before and after pics for yall. Sorry about the bad quality as they were taken on my Iphone.

Those are the original grips. I didn't do anything to them except clean them with a toothbush and some furniture polish. Then wiped them down really good. The lighting in those before pictures makes them look darker. The cleaning nor the polish really made that much difference.

Thanks guys. Im not trying to promote Duracoat by any means, as this was my first attempt to do this. I'll have to see how it holds up to wear and cleaning before I really make up my mind if I'd do it again. I was just thinking that I could buy some really nice shooters at a cheep price, refinish them to something that you could pull out and shoot at the range and enjoy.

Good Job! update us on the Dura Cote durability etc, short comings if anything developes. Enjoy your 36! Bob

Good job man! It looks great.

I have several rifles that have the barreled action done in DuraCoat. As long as the prep was done correctly it will give a long service life.

Very good job. Makes me want to get my hands on a project gun...:)
