in todays media we hear every far fetched attempt at what the second is or should be, and why we don't need it anymore.

surfing the net today I found this article from David Vandercoy. and consider it the best thing that I have ever read regarding our founders and the 2nd amendment and its history

this is a great read and it will take 15-20 minutes of your time to read it
but is well worth the time to learn about the militia concept, and the right of the Individual to keep and bare arms.

This is a well researched and documented paper on the subject.

THE HISTORY OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT

Very good. I will print this to give to anti-gun people to read. That is assuming they can read anything not written in crayon.

Something I remember from my 9th grade history teacher. The Federal government and the State governments have powers. Only the people have rights.

Excellent I just saved a copy for future use. There are a lot of people in our country who need to read this. It is a perfect example of why US History is effectively no longer being taught in our schools. Can't be giving the next generation of serfs too many ideas or illusions about freedom.

The statements of the framers is an essential part of any law. It is important because it shows the intentions of the law. Legislation review is often used in arguments before the courts and the higher the court the more often it is used.
No argument or opinion of the 2nd can be more valid than those of those who wrote it.

Thank you for sharing this. What an excellent read. I too have bookmarked this to share with others.

Thank you for this. I have seen it before but now I have a copy of it. Federalist Papers 45 and 46 by Madison give his thoughts on this. The subject matter of each essay is "State vs. Federal Power", if memory serves. In essay 46 he gets into the subject of "militia". The "militia" of Madison's essay and of the Vandercoy essay sadly do not exist and have not for a long time. The present day National Guard is not the militia of art. 1, sec.8 or the militia of the 2A of the Constitution, respectively.

Google this and see what comes up..... "The Dick Act 1903" and "The Militia Act of 1792".

Saved and will make copies for a few what I will call special people that need to read the real reason of and for the 2nd Amendment !!

Thank You !!

Great reading, thanks. To bad so few realize the truth of the intend of our Country Founders on the 2nd and other aspects.
